Rumour circulating around last night on Twitter.

Anyone know much about the lad? Left footed unit?

Well anyone with a completely lower case name can’t be that noteworthy 😁.

I was not impressed when we played Tranmere earlier in the season but some locals must have a better idea as he signed for Havant and Waterlooville in 15/16. He only played 14 games and spent half the season on loan to Hayes and Yeading.

Hope this rumour is not true Tranmere reckon he has gone for £750k which they believe is an incredible figure worth far less then that also this
This amounts to a double rumour, firstly that he is going and second the fee.. Some things Monthe does look good but he is as bad as anyone from set pieces and if we were only getting a third of the rumoured fee it would be good business.

Sort of...the message above is a copy paste from the Tranmere fans forum.

Reading a bit more about MM, looks like he is a reasonable (at best) L1 CB but isn't someone who will lead the defence and is suspect when dealing with crosses!

Just what’s needed another fvckin plank. Is there any chance we can sign someone that resembles a footballer in the position they’re meant to play in. The sooner this season is finished the fecking better.

I hope I'm wrong but I dont think Jackett will go even if we were to finish in the bottom half of the table. As long as the crowds keep turning up the Yanks will be happy no matter what. Apparently the sporting culture in US is all about profit and nothing else.

I am afraid you have hit the nail on the head Deebo, all this talk that we will see the season out with a new manager installed over the summer is fantasy. The Eisners clearly love a steady Eddy and that is what Jackett is - he will see his contract out at the very least.

"Sack the cvnt" will still be going this time next year with 1000+ posts. [:D]

I had a full blown panic attack when this possibility dimly registered.

I do worry about people who add ‘e’ on the end of a normal word just to make their name look all that.

I’d like Kenny & the team to explain to me why they turned down an experienced CB who has played most of his career in the championship and bleeds blue, for less than $500k

And have instead (after borrowing a 3 legged carthorse who can’t kick a ball properly), turned their attention to a Havant & Waterlooville reject for $750k?

Incredible.

Did we turn down Pearce ? I thought he made the decision to stay at Charlton. Maybe we could have tried harder but not sure we turned him down.

Surely the fact he stayed at Charlton means we probably weren't ever in a position to actually get pearce. It's not like he left Charlton and went to another league one side and we decided against signing him.

Nope, he wanted to come and Charlton wanted a ‘nominal fee’. We didn’t want to pay anything and said No thanks, we’ll get Raggett & Downing instead.

It was farcical what our priorities were in the summer.

Nothing in that article to say we turned him down.

The most significant quote in that article is surely "Pearce has yet to find out if he is part of Charlton boss Lee Bowyer’s plans, after they secured promotion to the Championship with their play-off final victory against Sunderland." In fact at the time Bowyer's future was uncertain too. What it looks like is Bowyer persuaded him to stay, not hard when you are offering championship football. Had he decided to leave I'm sure he would have chosen us above the other clubs interested.

To interpret from that article that we jibbed at the transfer fee is a nonsense and just mischief-making.

And this was his quote when he re-signed with Charlton "“I wanted to get that stability with the club. I enjoy it here. I love the club and it’s been a good year and I feel like Charlton is on the up so I wanted to stay. Obviously, the club had a little bit of interest over the summer, but that didn’t change anything. I wanted to stay here. I’m just glad to get things done and extended.”

There’s more than one article out there. The news covered it pretty thoroughly and it was also discussed on here at the time.

Not sure what your agenda is but whichever way you look at it, the players we’re linked with now (and signed) are all much, much worse than Pearce.

The point is the News never said we turned him down.

My agenda is to expose unfair criticism of the club I support. I agree that Pearce would have been the best option that we were linked to, but as it turned out he was never available so to say we turned him down is unfair and needless criticism. And you have no evidence for such a claim.

But if you really need any more evidence that he was never really avaialable how about "I've been part of clubs that have been family clubs and Charlton is definitely one of them. I feel part of the club and the family has settled in, the kids are going to school now. I want to stay here for the long term. After I play I’m doing my coaching here so it something means a lot to me. I’m proud that the club has allowed me to extend my contract and hopefully I can repay that with some good performances on the pitch."

Deep, when presented with fact and once they realise how wrong they all are they just move onto moaning about something else.

There are very few actual Pompey 'supporters' left on here its just become a place for middle-aged moaners to spout their bile.

I can’t defend that I personally am becoming a miserable middle-aged git. It’s such a miserable season because we’re so near yet so far from promotion.

Watching the owners/manager/CEO repeating the same mistakes, season after season really grinds you down.

8 years since we were championship FFS! I’d completely forgotten about the UEFA cup run ‘til someone mentioned it on the Marc Wilson thread. Those were the days, getting off my nut on gluevine in Wolfsburg [|)] Seems a million miles away now.
