With this now looking a inevitability, and more or a case of when not if (is now in all three major parties manifesto). If it is implemented at Fratton Park, particularly the Fratton end, will you embrace, want to move or protest? I believe it will more and likely be the Fratton End as they are talking about new disabled facilites in Milton end.

What are peopleís thoughts?

I'd be happy with safe standing and would embrace it.

Safe Standing

I have got very used to sitting down at the footy. I wouldn't mind safe standing but there are at least two gents in my row in the Fratton End who would have to move as they simply would not be able to stand for the entire game. This would be a great shame as they've been there for many years.

If it is to be introduced in the Fratton End then it would be better towards the back where people often stand up anyway.

Otherwise best to wait until the Stadium revamp.

If youíre in the Fratton End you spend half the time standing anyway, so it wonít make a lot of difference.

If it increases the capacity Iíll be all for it, despite being an old git.

Does anyone know how much capacity would increase ?

The pictures I saw of a German ground made it look like there'd be hardly any increase because the allocated spaces behind each barrier looked about the same size as a seat. Unless there is a significant increase in income it would not be worth the expenditure to install, better to just turn a blind eye to the standing as they do at present (most of the time).

Do you really believe safe standing is going to be a priority of any new government? especially a Tory one with their demonstrated history of contempt for working class football fans?

Never mind, just be happy moaning that Jeremy Corbyn was photographed with the Ted Bates statue...

Wolves have replaced all seats behind one end with rail seats, has increased capacity by a few hundred seats. I think it would be roughly te same for Fratton End.

I personally think it would not be worth doing just the at back, people would migrate to Fratton end if they know they could stand the whole match. Unfortunately that would mean people would have to move if they donít want to or couldnít stand. But they have three other stands to choose from, hopefully a new Milton end etc. And we will hopefully have something very special with a big Pompey wall with our most vocal and hardcore support from around the stadium coming together in one place. Iím all for it [^]

Thatís how theyíre going to increase the Milton end capacity. Take out the seats and call it stadium modernisation

I'm pretty certain that Caitlin said a few Q&A sessions back that safe standing has very little effect on capacity. So it could reduce income(no doubt some will expect to pay less), cost a lot to put in and leave the capacity the same. As noted above, probably better to do as part of a development. Alternatively we could return the stadium to its original design. Standing downstairs in North and South which suits the rake of the "terracing steps" better with seating up stairs. Until we can move on major reconstruction anyhow
