Momentum brings confidence brings momentum

Life is strange sometimes. In football as so many areas of life, small things can change, hardly noticeable at first, which start bringing a little success. That little bit of success then brings a little more confidence. That confidence then starts making you that bit better at what you do. That brings more successes and so it goes on. I feel like we are seeing that this season at Pompey. It was not so many weeks ago that almost every comment on here seemed to be negative. The play on the pitch was negative. But now, through initially small successes we are on a run. The players no longer look like rabbits caught in the headlights, the fans are starting to believe. We still have to improve a lot but now we have momentum I can see those improvements continuing. A couple of good signings in January and I really believe we could end up doing better than last season.

January is not the time for any permanent signings but maybe a good box to box player not getting time at his own club.
History tells us that.
The game was good last night but I'm no fan of our football and that's not going to change under Kenny.
But we are all entitled to our opinions.

I'm no Jackett fan but the football was much better (I know the bar hasn't been set high) last night and it was against a side that will most likely be in the top 6 by the end of the season.

I still don't like how we played 4231 which meant again that Close and Marquis are out of position but 3 wins on the bounce and we've scored 3 in both of our last two games. Keep em coming.

Great post Herman, very hard to argue that. I think 4 key things have happened to give us all a little bit of confidence:

1: The manager has started making more positive substitutions when winning.
2: Curtis has hit fantastic form
3: Raggett & Bolton are out of the team
4: Weve started scoring lots more goals

If we can get Jack back in the new year at anywhere near his best we should be a bit more solid at the back. Im not worried about any of the loans going back in Jan as it wont affect us an iota.

A brace or a hat trick, from Marquis, would do wonders for pushing it on.
It's just confidence that's missing.
If the rest of the team take the pressure off him then he might relax and we'll get our moneys worth.

Confidence maybe but that word 'attitude' cropped up three times in KJ's post-match interview. Coupled with Joe Gallen's comments about workrate last weekend it's clear that there has been disquiet in this squad in the first three months of this campaign. Certain personalities that have clashed and upset the dressing-room spirit, disharmony that has spilled over on to the pitch on a number of occasions. So maybe they have made a decision to bury the hatchet - or maybe the shadow of the January window is looming large over the shoulders of one or two that Kenny will gladly axe if they don't shape up.

Cunning.[^]Agree about Marquis. Starting to link up well with Harrison now. Even just one goal which is more than a tap-in, where it is him who has to take all the credit will do wonders for him. His past record is just too good to believe he can't get that back. Just think the whole negative vibe thing affected him worst of all our players

Interesting comment from KJ last night about learning to leave ego's @ the dressing room door or some such words.
