Things we learnt today

1. Close & Naylor cannot play together in a 442. If he insists on playing that formation then it needs to be a diamond with Evans at the front and Naylor at the back, or at least with a central midfielder capable of driving forward (Cannon probably the best bet).

2. We are too slow on the ball due to a chronic lack of confidence, playing safe all the time.

3. None of Marquis, Harrison or Pitman are as effective up front as Hawkins was last season. So far anyway.

4. Raggett is not as XXXXXX as he looked in his first few games

5. Bolton is half decent after all too, but not as good as Thompson.

6. We were unlucky not to score in the first half. Two excellent saves from their keeper and the header against the inside of the post.

7. We were lucky to get nil in the second half, a dreadful lack of ambition.

8. The clean sheet was the only positive today, pleased for Bass but I expect he wishes Gillingham had given him more to do to earn it. They really did not look interested in scoring a goal.

Things we learnt today, Jackett still doesn't know how to get the best out of our players and uses poor tactics also our midfield is poor (partly cos Close seems to keep starting) and the team that finished the game should have started.

I learnt today that I can be so alienated by a manager that I start to not care.

Not even Barker managed that

Watched on the iPlayer good thing was my laptop decided to crash the moment I bought the ticket (smart computer) but we settled down to watch would make the Battle of the Somme seem like a ding dong great spectical.

You know the only thing that came to mind was to be sorry or the 18k who turned up, it was not entertainment it was dire and sitting in the rain watching what was served up, thank God I was not there.

Anyhow on a brighter note starting Close and Pitman as just weird. Raggett and Bolton are starting to get their game together, Christian Burgess was a rock and the rest, well they need to find a way play together.

Fortunately (so far i dont think we will yet. But it is in n way impossible. Wombles next, humm home win in my opinion at their place.

I Said the same at half time Dawns.. I actually wasnít sure I cared what the result was as I was so bored witless by the football. Given how much Pompey have always meant, that really depresses me. Thanks Jackett.

We didnít learn anything we didnít already know, except perhaps that the referee was particularly clueless.

Jackett still hasnít got an attacking bone in his body but we all knew that anyway.

The midfield is slow, lacks creativity and is too predictable but we knew that anyway.

The entertainment level was almost too low to measure but we knew that would be the case.

Iím still of the opinion that a more positive thinking manager would get more out of this group of players.

Verdict: Taxi for Jackett

Yeah totally agree ,I couldnít of cared less yesterday and thatís the scariest thing of all, half of me was willing Bolton to score the other week and the last minute penalty the game before I didnít even get out my seat.
