Who steps in for Oli?

News says Oli will be out for 4 to 6 weeks so who should replace him the natural replacement is Downing not pleased he is ideal would rather one of our graduates. Downing suprises me just how bad he is and how he stayed in the Donnie team all season.

Itís going to be Downing and itís most likely going to be very painful. Jan canít come quickly enough. We already need 2CBís (excluding Jack) a RB and a CM. Thank God we can send Raggett back in 3months time.

Realised we have another option McRorie has played there when at Rangers he had a torrid time once and was moved but he is quite capable of playing there could be an option?

Downing is not up to standard, it has to be Naylor despite how desperate we are for him to do the work of two men in midfield.

I would go with

McG
Evans Naylor Burgess Walkes
Williams McCrorie Canon Brandon
Pitman Marquis

Dawn ... has Walkes ever played at left back ?? Why play him out of position there with Haunstrup available ? Isn't that exactly the sort of thing Jackett is getting so much stick for ??

IMO we have to persevere with Bolton & Downing until their form returns to the level that they had at their previous clubs. Both look as if they are desperately short of confidence and that might be solved by a win or two.

haunstrup always does a decent job. Just thinking, Walkes looked decent in centre mid last season, which might cover Naylor moving back. And
of course Canon has had a game's rest and could work in midfield with Close perhaps.
Or we rethink the formation and set the team up to match what we do have.

I didn't think that Bolton was all that bad Tuesday night but no one else seems to have rated him at all.

If you can stomach it, watch the 3rd goal from Tuesday. It should give you a good idea why a lot of people donít rate him.

Also he doesnít track the runner for their 2nd as well. There are others at fault for that goal but he may as well not even bother running back if he canít spot the danger. I.e. 1 jam rag in the box.

Heís cr@p at defending sadly.

If anyone bumps into Cardboard Ken before the game it might be worth mentioning dropping any one of the Lightweight Threesome - Curtis, Close or Williams and putting in another holding midfielder to help protect whatever dodgy defence he wants to pick. It might actually help control the game for more than 20 mins and plug those huge gaps that regularly appear when the opposition breaks.

Looks like we are all scraping the bottom of the barrel to decide on a team which shows what a pile of you know what we have at our disposal ? A real collection of rubbish players that we should put on the local tip apart from two or three never seen any thing like it. We really look like relegation candidates more than promotion ones even Bolton have scraped up better players than us at the last minute.

Bpay- you've got everyone playing in their preferred position!!! That's not permitted.

a) How did you manage that?

b) That'll never happen!

Good shout though.

Young Haunstrup is the best player across our back 4 comfortably. At least until Jack is back playing.

I don't mean this as to say that our other defenders are so poor it makes Haunstrup look good (although that is true), Haunstrup is genuinly a good LB. Wicked left foot, excellent timing and surprisingly strong considering he looks a bit weedy. I had written him off a few years ago so I'm happy to eat my words. Also my mate went to school with him and apparently they didn't get on so it's funny to wind my mate up about this.

All these people saying they can't wait for January so we can sign some replacements. Just remind me how good the January signings have been in previous years? There's never anyone decent available in January as they're playing for their clubs, or they're available because they haven't been playing for their clubs because they are crap!

Ben Thompson was very average for a couple of months last season - then went on an impressive run of performances. He was helped out of course by Clarke and Lowe.

Harness has probably been the stand-out player this season. Others are bound to step up in the next dew weeks.

Mcgillvray

Bolton Downing Burgess Haunstrup

Naylor Close

Williams Harrison Curtis

Marquis

To come on second half
Mcrorie for Close
Harness for Williams
? - I'd like to see one of the youngsters come on in Curtis' position

I bet Downing and Burgess won't play together though - and if so Naylor to play CB, and McCrorie to partner Close.

Drop Close for Cannon and play Marquis as the number 10 and Harrison up top. Williams and Harness out wide. If Walkes has played CB I'd stick him there too.

Ask Jackett. He seems to think Cannon is an attacking mid as well. And that Raggett is a footballer.

Well, anybody but an idiot would know that if we're playing two up front and two wingers, we can't afford Close in midfield. Oh, sorry Kenny, no offence like.

The marquis harness partnership will be very important for us this year. There were some good signs at Blackpool so hopefully that will continue to develop.
