Midas in reverse

In the good old days we were good at picking up misfiring strikers and getting them scoring again. TrebilXXXXXX, Kemp, Garwood, even Biley. To name but a few. Seem to do the reverse lately.

We've got 1 excellent one in Pitman but our boss doesn't rate him. He scores or nearly scores on a regular basis but doesn't get on the pitch enough. Last season he did he scored over 25 goals ffs

Lionel Messi couldn't score 25 goals in this division with this midfield. Until that midfield is sorted, marquis & co will be feeding on scraps.

Gotta agree with that. Midfield is desperate.

Hmmm, the Pitman I see is too slow to catch a cold these days. He was never blessed with pace as it was but these days is so slow. And it has to be said recently when he has played he's missed chances that 2 yrs ago he would've buried. That half volley attempt last night was XXXXXX woeful & dribbled into the keepers arms. Maybe that's why he doesn't play much these days. Just a thought loike.
But I'd still like to see Jaxit.

Fair enough Pitman is not the quickest and okay he miss-hit that one volley but he forced an excellent save with the one the keeper tipped over the bar and especially in the first half looked a class above all our other players. Got p-d off with Marquis moaning at every ball that wasn't perfect for him. It's not like he wasn't screwing things up also

It was also his header from the corner which forced that incredible save from their keeper when it was still 0-0. Hes a goal scorer. Look at Mucky Quinn, the pie eater

God knows how we sort out the defence. But feel like once we get Harness back, Williams on the left,Pitman and Marquis up front,Cannon and Mcrorie centre midfield, we have the makings of a decent team. Must keep Pitman in the team though.

Ehmm - Jackett picked up Pitman prior to the 17/18 season, a striker who had scored 14 goals in his last 2 seasons from 64 appearances @ a goal in every 4 1/2 games.

2 seasons later he had scored 35 in 70 league games @ 1 goal for every 2 games, despite turning up well over weight for his second season. His first Pompey season stats remain the best of his career.

It seems like Jackett has continued this Midas tradition.

Then we have Ellis Harrison.

Early days I realise - and crucially no league goals as yet - but he has scored 4 in 9 total games @ 1 goal in 2.25 games.

His last good season was at Bristol Rovers in 17/18 with 14 goals in 49 @ 1 goal every 3.5 games. he scored 1 goal last season.

If Marquis and Harrison can start bagging league goals - we could quickly cimb the table. If..
