Controversial I know but John Terry. He's now had 2 seasons as Deputy at Villa & reckon he cold do a good job for us. He'll certainly sort out the defence & appoint a leader as captain. Also, still seen as an icon at Chelsea so I'm sure can get in some top quality loans from his mate Frank Lampard.

John Terry not a bad shout if only to see him in the dugout next to Joey Barton when we play Fleetwood

Can't help but thinking that dropping Pitman and Evans from their captain's roles has driven a wedge between the players. This would explain the lack of togetherness in the team. Then moving the new captain to CB, then moving him back to the centre of the pitch means that player is potentially lacking confidence - and he is the captain. Throw in a handball to give the opposition a penalty and a win - makes it even worse.

If there is an issue - Jackett could have dropped these players from the team. Difficult one. Any new manager coming in will get a new man's bounce - and will face the same situation months down the line - unless Evans and Pitman really raise their game.

I can't stand Terry - but even though I realise he would probably be a good manager - he will have his eyes on bigger jobs. Managing in the lower leagues for a top player is tough.

If Whittingham was hungry for this kind of work - he would be doing a coaching job somewhere.

Appleton would have been a good shout.

The only way we will get a top manager who can really develop players to a higher level is to get someone with a previous connection.

Tim Sherwood for me. Would he come?

I don't think Moore would want to go to far from the West Mids now he has retired from playing.

Gary Rowett might also be a shout - but he possibly would also want to stay around the midlands

Sherwood [cr]

Have you not heard him speak about football anytime recently? No way would I like him here.

Houghton wouldn't be a bad shout but not sure he'd drop this low after a prem job. Another person doing well in league two who could make the move up is flynn at Newport. They've been good the past few years on a tight budget.

Appleton doesn't start at Lincoln until Monday. Lincoln lost 6 - 0 but Appleton didn't.

I'd be amazed if Jackett gets the sack. There's a faint chance he could walk though.

No Blues, I haven't heard a thing. Is he bored? His record is actually very good.

The point I am making is that we won't get a potential top manager here - unless he has a club connection - or unless he has had a bit of time off, or lives fairly local. Hughton could be a good shout - but I bet he would be looking for a Championship job at least.

If Bowyer is unhappy at Charlton - he could be a very good acquisition. very different football from Jackett.

After some consideration of the situation, if Jackett continues to lose or draw in the league over the next 2/3 weeks - I reckon we should consider the following do-able managers:

Paul Tisdale - currently at MK Dons - but might prefer getting back nearer to his west country roots. Would relish the chance of finally managing a decent sized club. Ticks the loyalty and development box. Might not even want to talk to Pompey after being rejected last time round.

Gary Rowett - currently out of work since being sacked at Stoke after losing 2 out of 3, after going on a 10 match unbeaten run. Might pi55 this league, and would be hungry for work. Not sure about loyalty.

Lee Bowyer. - at Charlton. If he is cheesed off at Charlton - could be a great fit.

Nathan Jones - Bad start to season at Stoke. Something wrong at that club. Sacking looking likely. Good attacking football. Could pi55 this league again.
