Reading that anodyne vstatement I see no mention of bubbling being categorically ruled out.

Surely, all they need to do is give the scummers the Fratton Car park, ask B&Q to loan their car park overspill for the home fans, and promote a few coaches where required for the scummers.

All you have then will be a few pockets of their fans looking for action, probably including that bloke who got into the Fratton End a couple? of seasons ago.

They said they weren't doing a bubble, and presumably that means of any kind?

Have you ever caught a train to Southampton. It takes almost an hour.

I get on @ Fareham to get Fratton on a saturday matchday. Night games I drive. But asking both sets to share trains-recipe for bother imho.
Train will be popular for the pony shaggers, state of the M27 roadworks will put a lot of scummers off using cars I reckon

If it's anything other than the bubble 'coaches-only' idea for the away fans then it's going to be an utter disaster. How can the police be so thick? There's a whole new generation well up for this. Very strange of the police not to go with what has to be the best option.

Not strange at all. All they have to do is let both lots get at each other. Stand back and film everything. Keeps their costs down and with very little effort they boost their prosecutions through the roof. Or am I getting cynical.

This is a great opportunity for to make policing easier for the next 3 seasons.

Let the loons run amok.
Film.
5am knock.
Banning orders aplenty.

And all under the umbrella of an 'unpolicable' game where everyone is expecting trouble anyway. How convenient

"we are saddened that thugs caused this trouble but rest assured they will be severely dealt with which will create a nice family friendly Fratton Park for years"

There seems to have been a subtle change of direction in the way things are being Policed in such circumstances over the last decade. The aim of preventing trouble seems to have become secondary. The Police almost seem to be engineering situations were disorder occurs. Demonstrations, political meetings and football, all have seen situations were the Police almost seem to have engineered clashes.

I'm sure there will be a special train that most of their fans will catch, and will arrive 10 mins or less before kick-off. Expect a big police escort down Goldsmith Avenue.

The Police probably reckon they have details of most of the trouble makers from both sides, but I don't see how they can prevent a few reds travelling separately who want a bit of action getting it. Maybe the new chiefs just fancy seeing a bit of action themselves- as they haven't experienced it for a while ie 7 years.

A bad home result could result in carnage IMO.

Gulf, I don't think there are such things as special trains anymore. If they don't have transport OB on trains from Fareham onwards well asking for trouble IMO.

Yep, what I meant was that there will be trains their fans are encouraged to catch with the proviso that their will be an escort the other end if they do. I assume that the police will be on these trains. If they see large numbers of fans trying to get on much earlier trains - they will probably delay them - and keep them to 2 or 3 trains.
