It's coming to that isn't it. You're the jury you decide. First vote for Pitman our best natural goalscorer by far.

If KJ can't see it he has to go now or at Xmas at the latest.

If KJ wins Pitman will be on his bike probably to another Div 1 side in Januaty & come back & haunt us.

Over to you trusted members of the jury.

Personally think Marquis will turn out to be our best scorer.
To the question asked I'd say neither.

If another league one side wanted him (or could afford his wages), he would have been gone this summer in my opinion.

He won't be on Mega Wages I bet. Oh & it depends on what part of the country you live in!
Kenny is too stubborn & cost us promotion last season by not playing him until too late.

Promotion not essential this season..brick by brick etc

we've got 2 proven goalscorers and two good front players (for all his faults, we are missing Hawkins at times) still cannot understand why we only ever play one of them at a time, except when we are panicking in the last ten minutes.

The battle between KJ and Pitman began when Pitman was hauled off last season in our first game KJs first competitive against Luton last season. For half a season KJ never said it but he must have considered Pitman unfit for play.

Checkertrade Trophy Pitman shocked us with his slimline fitness and never before seen speed in a blue shirt.

Just like in the companies we work the bosses and the players are not rewarded on merit alone but also on their psychological condition, just look at Gareth Evans situation against Blackpool for better or worse KJ knew exactly what he was doing when he hauled him off as substitute and the shame and anger the player would feel.

does this bring the best from a player? I do no know but one cannot deny that KJ is totally focused on his plan regardless of the players feelings. That will be his crowning trophy if we get promotion or the noose round his neck if he fails in my opinion.

If we hadn't bought a new striker, fans would be moaning

If we hadn't been playing this new striker, people would be moaning

Now fans want to drop the new striker, or play both strikers together. How old is the season?

There's no choice, get rid of Jackett and keep our best goalscorer.
GoT, people would have moaned if we hadn't signed a striker cos we needed one, fortunately your idol realised this and signed a couple, however the strikers he's signed have so far not been good enough as lone strikers yet Jackett is too stubborn to see what everyone else can.
As for your question as to how old the season is, it's old enough for Jackett to know his best team (he's also had preseason to get things sorted).

Last year, we took on 3 new players who played regularly - Thompson, Brown and Curtis. So we just tweaked the left side of the team, and had a dynamic midfielder new to the team.

This year we have at present - a completely different back 4. Haunstrup may stay at LB, Goodness knows what is happening with the CB's - and Burgess is currently playing at RB

Naylor has been moved to CB, McCrorie is new, Cannon is essentially fresh to the team, and Close has been playing slightly different positions.

Harness and Harrison are new, as is Marquis.

Therefore we have the keeper, the left winger (who is out of form - with no fit back-up) and arguably Close as the only players in similar positions as last year. It's hardly surprising that we are well down on last season. If Hawkins was playing every game - fans would be up in arms.

How well did Charlton, Luton and Barnsley start last season?

It's four unbeaten fwiw, W2 D2, things going well then.

So you disagree that preseason should be used to gel new players into a team?
As for square pegs into round holes, yes Jackett is doing a lot of this but who's to blame for this? You won't be too pleased but but the answer is your beloved Jackett is to blame as he's the one that signed players that either haven't been good enough so far or injured, it was also Jackett's fault we lost Lowe and Thompson after failing to get us promoted last season, Clarke would have probably gone anyway but we may have managed to get him back on loan for the season.

Both Luton and Charlton had 8 points from six matches this time last year while Barnsley were hovering around third. So if we win our game in hand we could match that. Peterboro were top - one game away from being usurped by us.
We know that being top for four months mid-season is worth nothing. The important thing is to be in the top half of the table for the second half of the season which puts you within striking distance of the play-offs or bettter.

Tomsk_of_Tonking, is everyone that disagrees that Jackett is doing a good job this Pete mosh? If so then you'll find he's got a hell of a lot of names on social media and Pompey message boards. You don't seem to want to answer my question and keep avoiding it, is there any reason for this?
Do you honestly think Jackett is doing well given he's into his 3rd season now?

Good discussion guys & thanks for supporting the post. It's now getting a bit lie Boris's "Do or Die". I'll reiterate what I said recently Kenny has until Xmas to get us up into the top 6 or go. Brett is not his ideal role model but he scores goals & if managed properly will respond. Yes we have 2 very good strikers along with Marquis so let them play together especially home & maybe some away games. Yes, Hawkins looks ungainly but deserves a place on the bench ahead of Harrison.

Jackett won't be going anywhere in the next couple of weeks. I see Catlin quoted my best managers win percentage since 1904 in the August update. Clever boy that Catlin. [8D]. And for his info, it was Bob Blyth on 59% who was the last manager with a better ratio.

He probably couldn't do much worse than King Kenny PGOB.
Gulf_of_deeply_bluetinted, do you honestly believe Jackett is doing well? He threw away promotion last season and has started his 3rd season in charge poorly as we lag down in 17th and finding it very difficult to win against any team other than newly promoted or youth/reserve teams.

You really don't like answering questions do you Tomsk_Of_Deeply_Bluetinted? You know as well as all other Pompey fans that we need a change in management cos Jackett isn't the man to take us up due to not being able to see his tactic needs changing, losing the dressing room and often making mistakes regarding team selection, subs etc. Unfortunately he won't be sacked cos he's buying and selling players and not bothered about promotion which is what our owners want.

I can't see us doing anything in the league at present but there's still a long way to go. But if the Coventry game's anything to go by I just can't see us cutting it. His team selection is very questionable & subs even worse. Maybe we'll progress in all the cups which will keep the owners happy & generate extra money. If by some miracle we were to be promoted the owners would have to break the bank to compete in the championship & I can't see that happening.

Time to ask the Qu again. Jackett has dug his own grave today by not starting Brett who was the only player who liked scoring but too late in the game. He should have changed things at half time. What was Harrison doing on the wing? Square pegs in round holes. I'm sorry but he has to collect his P45 Now!
