Herbie Kane or Andy Cannon?

News reports we are in competition for signing Herbie Kane with Coventry. Andy Cannon seems to be doing well finally the question is can we improve our promotion chances by signing Herbie?

Not sure about this one especially as Cannon has come good plus we have Pitman, Evans and even Harrison that can play in the hole , personally I feel we need a rt winger as back up for Harness as I think Williams is a left winger

Bluetag -Ryan Williams is right winger/footed - therefore we need a left footed left winger,or can Haunstrup do that job in an emergency.

played 38 times for Doncaster last season - cant see him joining a team where first team place is not guaranteed i.e. us!

I and a few others caught a glimpse of something in Cannon, in his first couple of games for us. He got right royally dismissed by everyone else.
It's nice to see a Pompey player receive such accolades from previous doubters but I would ere on the side of caution. Let's see if he can keep it going.
One thing is sure, all bar Mac, in goal, I'm not certain anyone can count on playing every week. That's got to be good.

And Paul Downing.

And (IMO) Naylor.

I agree about naylor. A mare the other day said he should make way for mccrorie to come back in. For me naylor is maybe the first outfield player on the team sheet! Should be made permanent captain given the other two won't start many games.

Agree Naylor has come on leaps and bounds with Mcrorie they would be the dogs dangley bits but then who do you choose between Close and Cannon? Evans, Pitman, and Harrison would also be in the reckoning for that 10 birth, although Pitman is a goal scorer Cannon fizzes around at the moment with no end product, Close is also on the goal trail, together with Harrison so tough call.

You try and keep your goalscorers in the team as much as possible. Cant see either of Naylor or Close being dropped for Sunderland. Its a toughie as we'd probably have relied on McCrorie's combative style up there before we knew Close would be smashing them in for fun.

last year, we ran out of steam, because the manager either reckoned the majority of his back up players weren't good enough, or they actually weren't good enough. By the time January came, Curtis was knackered, Green decided to leg it because he hadn't been played enough games just when he was needed, and Thompson was recalled. This season will be very different IMO, there should be lots of players getting games, and the permanent players are better.

Get kane in. Get rid of Morris (if anyone will have him). I've still got a feeling pitman may leave but not sure who would afford his wages so maybe a loan deal somewhere.

Everyone talking about that 10 birth but I am not convinced we are currently playing a 10.
From what I have seen these last 2 games Naylor is playing the holding no4 role. With Cannon and Close both playing the no8 role, I think it works.
But they can't play every game all season so competition for places is good!

Interesting situation with Bryn Morris Luton wanted to sign him and we beat them to it when Nathan Jones left they signed George Moncur who ended up being a better buy. News has reported he will be shipped out maybe Herbie Kane would be good replacement?

Stick with Cannon.

We don't need another midfielder.

Didn't someone post the player stats (gulf?). Bryn Morris showed as one of the most effective playmakers, as far as goal opportunities went.

Morris is still a very good prospect but if it's true that he has not settled in the area then that combined with the potential lack of opportunities in this squad makes a move a sensible option for all parties.
