Him and downing were excellent, harness is going to be a real handful this season.
Marquis is definitely going to score loads this season.

Harness? He had a stinker of a game. Showed some lovely footwork in the box on one occasion but failed to pass the ball at the right time on many.

Could not understand why when he took Cannon off he bought on Pitman who would never put the running in that Cannon had done, in fact he came on and just strolled around not interested at all. I would have put McCrorie on instead. Pitman has had his day time to ship him out.

Absolutely disagree bluebob,Pitman played well when he came on.

Bluebob you can't compare Cannon with Pitman. One is a Non-stop midfielder the other is a striker. I wasn't at the game but from what I could see Pitman went close twice to scoring including hitting the post. He was set up by Marquis so you may find KJ wanted to see if they could play as a pair looking forward.

agree with that, pitman is a goalscorer who can also pick a pass for his partners up front. Canon does a totally job. Can also see why you would want Mc to replace Canon.

Donít know what game you were watching Pitman did nothing when he came on. Sulking again because he isnít first pick for Jackett. As I said should have bought on McCrorie on and pushed Close up in the 10 role.

Pitman played ok when he came on, linked up well with Marquis IMO. However, Cannon was immense today MotM for me. I think we have our new Ben Thompson

Great performance. Fully deserved the ovation from the Fratton End. Rather surprised the sponsors gave MoM to Close. Cannon deserved it, even though he was only on the pitch for 68 minutes. Roll on Sunderland !

I think the team that finished today would have started the game had cannon and Harrison not impressed on Tuesday night. Marquis will start next week but think cannon will keep his place. Bolton in for walkes if he's fit.

Thought Walkes was great (crossing apart, but the wind was a factor) today. Cannon was mom on effort but Cloe on quality. When pitman came on it was like replacing a terrier with an arthritic labrador- albeit one who should, and, on a normal day, would have scored two. Also thought Downing didnít skip a beat.

Agree about Downing and I also thought that Burgess was solid.

As much as I like Lee Brown defensively, his crosses and set-pieces were shocking today.

Maybe it was the conditions!

Didnít think Walkes or Harness had great games, not much end product from Harness and I donít think Walkes beat his man once and his passing was awful. Thought Curtis was quiet as well . Still it was nice to see us control midfield.

I hope Harness starts finding the back of the net he has all the other attributes he needs to be more aggressive the potential is there to be a better player than Lowe. Walkes is a different story he has never shown any potential he does the minimum amount and always looks switched off in games. Curtis we know can deliver he will occasionally have quite games!

I wonder sometimes if people actually watch the match, judging by the number of people glued to their phones I suspect not.

Iíve seen posts suggesting that Walkes played well and Pitman was rubbish.

Obviously there are differences of opinion but those two views are so far from the mark as to be ludicrous.

All about opinions ex gaffer.Thats why we love the game. Think it also depends on your position in the ground. I am sure things are seen differently from where you sit.I know I couldn't give exact detail on second goal but in a great position to see the Ben Close stunner.

Great clip of that Close goal. He didn't need to hit it with any power as the keeper was on the ground. Just sailed gracefully into the top corner.

Just a word on marquis. Only 45mins but I thought his movement and little first time touches to lay the ball off were very good. He started the good move that led to brown (I think) hitting a shot wide. Give them a week or two to work on the link up play and I think the front 3 could well cause a lot of problems to teams. First time in ages we have an out and out clever striker at the club. One with decent movement that we can't just hit long balls too. Get the ball into his feet and we will cause problems.

Could this newly found optimism of our front three signal the demise of Olli or is there still scope for him to come back in?

Cannon was excellent but had clearly run out of steam. Pitman is currently the obvious replacement in that position as McRorie is purely a defensive player. Pitman did his bit and would have scored but for it hitting Downing on its way into the net.

Oli out on loan before the month is out in my opinion. If he goes to a side in the conference then I believe he could be recalled at any time, which might be of more interest to us, whereas a league 1/2 side he'd have to be there until January.

To the tune of 'Dedicated follower of fashion' by the Kinks

They see him here, they see him there
His passes are short, but never square
One week he's in royal blue, the next week he's on the bench
But we're now dedicated followers of Cannon
