Jackett Meddling with Formation

Just reading the latest Jackett musings on playing Curtis and Harness out of position against Shrewsbury.

He moved them back to their preferred sides, with the result that they played better, who’d have fecking thought it?

He’s now talking about the work he has to do on Harness to find out his best position, he should fecking know that already.

He constantly ignores his best goalscorer, with predictable results, and keeps tinkering when tinkering is not required.

Play your best players in their preferred positions and you’ll get the best out of them, it was ever thus.

All this chopping and changing needs to stop and we need a settled team that is only changed because of injury, loss of form or to combat a very specific threat.

If you have world class players all over the place, you can rotate, we don’t.

Ffs decide on our best team and stick with it.

Discuss 😎.

Up-capped headline the Daily Mail would be proud of there Gaffer. Meddled? It's his to form as he pleases.

Two games played mate. Two.

Got to agree when you have quite a few new players last thing you want to do is move them into different positions, its all about settling the side at this early stage. I can understand KJ wants to find his best side but square pegs in round holes isn't the way to do it. That's what the friendlies were all about surely, let's get as many three points as possible?

Daily Mail?

You’d know more about that then me then mush. I don’t recall ever reading it, apart from one day on the train when someone left one behind. After about a minute I decided a journey with no reading material was infinitely preferable to that pathetic rag.

Have a fun day. 😁

To be fair, you're correct in saying when he bought them he should know their best positions already. Playing Curtis on the wrong side was tried last season occasionally when things weren't going well during a game and never worked. I haven't seen Harness yet but I assumed he would play central or right depending upon Williams playing ( he'd be on the right) or Close (central).

[^]Got to agree with Gaffer. Jackett not really sure what his best team is & right positions!

If Jackett had meddled with his team a bit more last season, we might now be in the championship. The result of his non meddling was Green going back because he wasn't playing - just when we needed him, Curtis completely knackered by not getting enough rests, and the team being tired in January through playing too many games. Even matt Clarke went off the boil, we had the best defensive record till December.

Well Gulf, if he hadn’t left Pitman out for that spell we would definitely be in the Championship.

The moral is, play your best players in their best positions and good things tend to happen.

I find it incredible that Jackett has just purchased Harness, at great expense, and doesn’t know his best position.

He didn't score for 3 months from the end of September 18. He started most of those games. Is that the kind of form you felt would send us up?

not sure about meddling with the formation, having a shadow squad that step up when needed always seems best to me.
with one or two wild cards that allow you to change approach when needed, Hawkins I guess?
