From my TV picture it looks as though they’ve put candles on the South Stand. I assume in the stadium there’s no difference from before.

A few of us in fratton end noticed south stand lights set back so roof is well illustrated making the touchline on that side seem in shadows. No lights above TV gantry meaning darkish area touchline area yep we agreed patchy areas which seemed players were in the shadows

Must say I thought the lighting was very poor and certainly a downgrade on last season. Seems to me they are too far back on stand roof and therefore lighting up said roof in abundance to the detriment of the touchline areas on that side.

Sat next to Robert Shaw at the game and he commented 'I think we're gonna need a bigger pole(s)'.

I was sat next to Clint Eastwood. He kept asking everyone “Do you feel lucky?” Jack Hawkins was in the row in front. Dunno what game he was watching- he kept saying “There are some men in the water there”. You get some odd people up in the South Stand.

Sod the floodlights, sod the new pitch, sod the pylons going, sod the new screen, sod the new paint, and the better toilet facilities

We just want some stadium expansion. This is why the Eisners' got the club.

‘This is why the Eisners got the club’.

I think not, their offer was accepted because we couldn’t afford to maintain what we had,

Not to mention playing budget etc. etc, etc.

A bit early to start rewriting history Gulf [8D].

I have been sitting and standing in the SS for years and have sat next to some quite famous people. Douglas Bader was a massive Ron Saunders fan but gave up his season ticket when they introduced all seating. Gandhi loved the beef and onion pies and wore a club loincloth to every game but got banned for swearing. Funny enough Stevie Wonder was next to me Tuesday and he was complaining about the lights as well.

Apparently Thomas Edison was there on Tuesday and had some rather disparaging remarks to make about the practical incandescent lighting situation.

Gulf, we were skint, so yes they would.

I can’t remember them promising a new stadium and that certainly wasn’t a factor in my vote, or that of my mates as I recall.

Fan ownership took us as far as it could, it’s as simple as that.

Not everyone agrees with that. Catlin all of a sudden stated that the stadium refurbishment work would cost 4 or 5 million, when originally it was only circa 1-1.5 million. Even the resident architect completely disagreed with his assessment. You may say "of course he would", but he was adamant about it, and he had looked at it in detail.

What new ‘facilities’ did you have in mind Gulf?

We could certainly do with some more ‘American style’ catering, at the moment it’s the polar opposite of ‘fast food’. That side of things really had disappointed me. If you go to a stadium in the US, even a small one, you get served quickly and efficiently, usually by smiley staff. The experience at FP is light years away from that and the food isn’t all that either. I don’t bother now and get a bite at the pub before I go. I thought the Yanks would sort that.

Facilities to my mind means an expansion of what we have in terms of stands, corporate boxes, conference facilities etc. The Milton End refreshment facilities are currently hampering capacity and hence monies. Eisner is a proper business man, so the boxes and facilities should be at the forefront of his mind.

Well the conference facilities and executive boxes offer streams of revenue but don’t do a lot for me personally. I’m sure they are in the Eisners’ thoughts though.

From a personal point of view, I’d like to be able to get a pie quickly, not too much to ask.

I see MC has stated the lux readings on the new floodlights prove they are brighter than the old ones.

Unfortunately my eyes told me differently last Tuesday, perhaps they have made further directional tweeks since, we shall see (or not, as the case maybe) against Cov next week. But basically whatever a meter reading tells you at ground level it is the spectator experience that matters as much as the players view.

I certainly thought, light wise, it was poor last week.

Must go, got a 9am appointment at Specsavers, in case it's just me (and Robert Shaw of course).

It was Roy Scheider (Chief Brody) who wanted a bigger boat. Robert Shaw (Quint) was more than happy to use Orca to it's inevitable destruction.

If the new floodlights are LED and of a greater lux it maybe because the beam of light is narrower on an led than it is on an incandescent etc so therefore resulting in more shady areas
