Why wasn't he on the bench?
He could have come on instead of Hawkins.

That's Correct Dawn & can someone answer that Qu please.

Obviously, KJ doesn't rate him except for Cup games but when we need a finisher from our 2 created chances a game where is he?

The team & results at present are a shambles as our style of play has been sussed out by the opposition & we have No plan B.

I quite agree with others on here about us resulting to Hoofball aimed at Hawkins or Bogle.

If & when they can get a flicked on header there's no one running on to it.

Let's face it we are a defensively set up team hoping to hit the opposition on the break via Curtis & Lowe.

They're not performing at present so a major rethink needed.

Our home form is pretty dire as we set up exactly the same as away.

I have been a Season ticket holder in the past but happy now that I don't have to endure the current dross on offer.

missing from 10 yards out on recent evidence.

Yes, that is the tactic that put us 7 points clear at the top. The loss of form of Curtis & Lowe coincides with them having to play with Pitman (then Bogle) in the middle. IMO it's time to unleash the Lowe/Evans/Curtis/Hawkins front four that we know works, with better backup on the bench for all four of them than we had before January.

How can you unleash 3 players that are just not doing it at the moment. Curtis and Lowe are still sulking that they didnít get new whips for crimbo and Evans has been flogged to death in Mickey Mouse cup games. And if canít rely on our golden boy striker to actually score a goal once in a while then you are basically screwed.

Thanks for backing me up Soulboy & you are right on the money.

I listened to the QPR replay last Tuesday on Talk Sport & the point they made was that Hawkins was working hard on his own.

But there wasn't another play anywhere close to him to play off.

QPR had Matt Smith 6'5" & a much higher quality CF but had 2 players feeding off his knock downs.

There was the same problem at Plymouth with Bogle then Hawkins.

Pitman isn't the whole answer but at least gives something different & will run onto through balls.

His finishing is rusty as he's Not had any real game time but puts in the effort when I've seen him on tv.

Also, we have Vaughan on loan but he's not being played either.

KJ really needs to have a complete overhaul now before it's too late.

We need A,B & C plans Not just the same old tactics game after game.

Cute teams like Gillingham & Blackpool took the game to us & we gave them 3 points.

KJ is a good manager but needs better game management.

Run on to through balls? You realise that you're talking about slow as XXXXXX granddad Pitman.

For all the goals he scored, not many were from hanging on the shoulder of the last defender and sprinting on to through balls. [rle]

Pitman is a finisher and they are worth their weight in gold, you lot seem to have forgotten what the object of the game is.

If we were scoring freely I could understand Pitman being dropped. Trouble is, weíre not scoring goals are we?

Pitman should, at the very least, be on the bench as an option. Heís the sort of player who will score the half chances, get the ball to him in the box and he will score. You only need to be quick over a couple of yards in the box.

Hawkins leads the line well but couldnít hit a barn door from 10 yards. The wingers are OK but if they get in crosses thereís no fecker on the end of them. We had six shots at Plymouth and that was considered an improvement, itís not good enough and, deep down, you lot know that.

Curtis worked him out in pre-season. Those of us there will remember the verbals from Pitman followed by Curtis telling him to XXXXXX off and "get after it" [:D]

We saw it again for the first part of the season, we were joking in the FE that Curtis had taken it upon himself to get Pitman fit [B)]

Then there was the "discussion" between them in the FE car park after a game

Pitman has got a bit lardy lately
He's fat he's round and he aint worth a million pounds anymore
-
You can be that shape if you are Micky Quinn but he aint no mighty quinn.

Might not just be the weight though..
Happens to a fair few players -their decline can be sudden
Ian Rush went from scouse hero to wrexham zero in a couple fo years; that Matty Tubbs character tumbled down the leagues quick enough.

O.k.so what about the excellent overhead against Oxford? That showed he can get in the right position in the box to finish.

Instead of getting pitman to do a Hawkins (which is not his game), how about digging out the video of his first season with us and adjusting our game accordingly? He was rather successful I seem to remember. With Curtis and Lowe actually taking on players and delivering decent crosses weve surely got more chances to score. At least it's an alternative to jacketts long ball to Hawkins plan which seems to be the only one he chooses regardless of whether he plays.

My eyesight is fine Handbag and I donít need specs according to my optician [:D].

Mickey Quinn wasnít exactly slim (there was even a song to that effect), or fast, but he scored lots of goals.

A player like a Pitman shouldnít be asked to hare about all over the place, he just needs to get in the box and finish off chances. You donít become rubbish overnight and he got 25 last season.

Heís the only real poacher weíve got and he should be given game time.

You donít need specs to come to the conclusion that we are scoring very few goals, or that we need to score a lot more frequently if we want to go up.

In Jackettís latest outpouring he is talking about the defence and clean sheets, he is totally blinkered. The problem is not the defence, itís the other end of the pitch entirely.

If you score a lot of goals, clean sheets are not so important. If you score the odd goal every now and the, they take on more significance.

Letís at least give it a real go ffs.

[^] Ex Gaffer has it Spot On. KJ is totally blinkered & only has one style of play. Let's go back to our game plan from last year with wingers crossing low from the bylines. Feed Pitman in the box & he will Score!

Jimmy greaves went down hill in the space of a year. Liked a beer of course.

Pitman should be put on a a high protein diet plenty of gym work callisthenics cut out the lazy habits and heís got another 3 or 4 years.

If not conference south next Xmas. Itís all right being a goal poacher but being a goal hanger donít work.

the last few times that he came on as sub, he looked fit enough to me. But every time he is on the pitch the team lumps the ball onto his head. I suspect Vaughan would put him in on goal no problem.

Can't see Pitman getting another game as centre-forward this season, he is now fourth in line behind Hawkins, Bogle & Vaughan for that.

However he a live contender for the no.10 role, which is his best position anyway, but I can't see him being picked as that in an away game due to his defensive shortcomings.
