Lack of goals...

is going to cost Pompey dear at some point in time. Today we were playing the bottom team on a run of 7 consecutive defeats, a league goal difference of -18 and just for good measure had a player sent off and yet again we were hanging on at the end against 10 men. In truth we could have conceded 2 points. Our only transfer activity in January should be to find those missing goals.

Would imagine we would look to sign a striker in january, though Dennis mason pitman not really played much.

Got enough firepower imo..the difference this season is we are winning these type of games, previous seasons we would of been beaten, sign of a promotion winning team..pup

It's how well Bradford played today, not in the past 6 games, that determines how good our result today was. And it sounded like Bradford played well, fighting for their lives like any under-achieving side should.

Winning the game and keeping another clean sheet under those circumstances makes it a very decent result and we should be celebrating extending our lead at the top, not moaning that we did not win by more.

I know we'd like to see Pompey win 4-0 every week, but at the moment Kenny is playing to our strengths by keeping it tight defensively and hitting teams for pace on the counter attack. The only things that worry me is the lack of plan B if Hawkins gets injured or has a bad run and the fact the goals seem to have dried up for Lowe and Curtis.

To be honest. We could have won 10-0 today and people like you would have moaned that we only done it because they were bottom of the league.

suspect Jackett wanted a clean sheet above all today. That's usually how you win things. Hawkins said he usually scores in batches, so time to rest him as he's got his quota [:D]

interesting comments from Ruud Hullit on TV yesterday. Pointed out that the top three in the prem all play 433 with a single holding midfielder.
He was countered with a reminder that those clubs probably have the best players.
But maybe Naylor is enough as the defensive midfielder and we could allow the other one a little more freedom at home.Especially when it is Thompson.
