Was reading about this, this morning. Looks on the surface of it that some of the people involved were just milking it before it actually managed to get on its feet.

To make it worse, just as it was ready to begin trading, it gets shut down, meaning the losses incurred have no chance of being recuperated.

Looks like a massive clusterfück with the conservatives blaming the Lib dems and vice versa. Id love to know more details of this.

Why couldn't they replicate the money spinner that Nottingham created? Similarly, the owner of Fleetwood made his millions through a 'small' (70M) regional energy company Bes Utilities: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Pilley

once it was all set to go they should have run with it, especially if they could have extended the council scheme to put solar panels on houses that they own. A scheme to make the units locally and install them on local houses supplying energy via a locally owned company would be great joined up thinking.
