Maybe one of their family or friends was involved.

Unlikely they'd all be personal friends of the chairman, his assistant and his pilot.

I think they're just big babies.

RIP.

I tend to agree, unless itís their direct family or close friends of course.

It was a very unfortunate incident and obviously you can empathise with the family and friends of those who lost their lives.

Sorry, but I agree with Giles.

I didn't know the guy, so, I'm not bothered he's dead. It's sad for his friends and family, of course, but not me.

Same goes for famous people that die.

There are hundreds of thousands of people that I don't know dying every day. Why should I care about the Leicester city owner more than the rest of them?

Fist. I agree with that about Diana but I can understand the loss of someone so closely involved with the recent success of Leicester.
Say - god forbid 5 of our team died then I guess there would be some tears. Or the respect shown to the Pompey Pirate. I expect a few tears were shed.

Remember all those idiots who used to stand next to the away end at Filbert Street and throw coins and bottles of pesh at the away fans? No doubt they are now blubbing and laying wreaths with their grandkids at the King Power.

It's sad. Very sad for the club and its fans. But ffs people die every single second. Right now as you read this some poor kid is dying of starvation, cancer, earthquak etc. It happens. All this faux compassion on social media is just that, people just want likes/retweets/shares.

Spot on tampon, even sadder is this thread.
If people want to cry it's up to them, it is a free country after all. Let em get on with it.

The only point which might be worthy of debate is the conditioning in the western world that men should be manly and not show emotions leading to potential mental health problems. Arabs see it quite differently...

There's nothing wrong with showing emotion. The issue is why you blub like a little girl when a foreign businessman you've never met dies. I think most fans are more upset at the prospect of losing his financial backing than losing him as a person.

Iím sure he was a very nice bloke and everything but nobody on this board and most of the people laying flowers, lighting candles and all the rest didnít know him and were not related to him.

I really donít understand this modern phenomenon of public outpourings of grief, shrines and the like.

Accidents happen, people die, we all die ffs. If itís not a close friend or family member itís not real grief is it? Itís all part of the modern Ďlook at me Iím grieving, selfie, Facebook thing isnít it?í.

Are any of you seriously saying that if our Chairman popped his clogs in an accident youíd all be up FP lighting candles?

It's a strange thing isn't it, wanting to be seen to be sad and grieving, very much like when Diana died, very odd

I'd never even heard of him until Saturday evening, so I'll probably be able to control my overwhelming grief.

The most interesting aspect of this is listening to reporters saying his name; you can tell they've all been up all night perfecting it in front of a mirror.

I was surprised that some major news outlets were featuring it as their main story with the pittsburgh massacre a distant second.

I've also noticed no one in the UK has had a minutes silence for the 11 dead.

What about the Indonesian air crash with nearly 200 dead, are we going to light candles and have a silence for that?

Itís regrettable of course but accidents happen every day, people die every day. The families and friends of the dead will have real grief and will shed real tears.

All this public grieving stuff is very hollow and I think most people, if they are being honest, would concede that point.

Indeed. I was going to make the point about the aircraft but as you say people die everyday and not in small numbers. Even we are going to go someday.

Liz Truss is dying at the hands of Andrew Neil as we speak.

But as a GP once said to me - donít worry when we die weíre forgotten after 2 weeks so make the most of it while youíre here.

Actually the sports media have been embarrassing on this. Itís been hilarious watching ex footballers and the like, who in reality couldnít give a toss, trying to appear grief stricken in order to pander to the pc brigade.

One or two of them should have the bottle to tell it like it is, itís not like they are short of a few bob is it? They can afford to say what they like.

Different for a player. More so for fans. Although the Scousers went mental with the flower thing after Hillsborough, it is understandable.

But having said that, if anyone is going to 'get' a city and a club like Leicester-on-Pakistan then it's definitely going to be a Thai billionaire. [DFS]

Started and fed by an attention seeking idiot that orgasms every time one of his errr incredibly witty posts get deleted. Anyway, you carry on w*kning yourselves off about the illogical concept of Leicester fans being a bit upset about something bad happening to its club owner and staff. Good comparison would be the Munich air crash. I was only a nipper but most clips you see show blokes looking pretty damn sad but not blubbing. Difference 50 years on is that everybodyís become so friggin mediated they instantly see themselves in a YouTube clip and act accordingly.
