Soggy pitch again tomorrow

Is it that the wet pitch is a great leveller when top teams play lower ones just like the last home game?
Or are we Southern Softies who struggle on wet pitches as the team rarely trains on them?
Hopefully neither, and we win convincingly tomorrow.

Hopefully mr odd job has got up and cleaned out the gutters otherwise the wide men will need their wellies again

agreed, the wide areas were surprisingly wet and largely stopped our attacking wings where our strength is.

Rather a soggy pitch than a soggy biscuit

Gillingham defence seem to have a habit of chasing the ball and leaving a player free on the far side to be played in. Will make this harder with a soggy pitch, but hopefully will still work.

Looks like Pompey struggle to play in poor pitch conditions as losing 2-0 to a bottom side.
Doesnít bode well for the wintry pitches ahead.

Can't use this as an excuse just because we're lossing. Why play with 7 defensive players at home?

I think the conditions did affect us. Our game plan is pass it around the back, then fire a good ball up field. The wind prevented us doing that, and they had more players in centre mid so they won that battle. It was less the pitch and more the wind, so not as worried about winter.

FFS if we canít play in a bit of wind and rain we might as well give up now. Conditions very poor excuse.

We are a fine-tuned passing team with skilful players.
The ball got stuck in a boggy pitch and flew 10 yards away from intended targets.
That means lesser teams can intercept those balls.
The bookies, not understanding the weather leveller, had Gillingham at 4/1 to win.
Iíd have bet on the draw, and we deserved a point.

We had an off day and didnít test their keeper, Gillingham scored a couple of good goals and deserved the win.

Nothing to do with the weather.

Not impressed with the drainage though, I thought that had been sorted out.

Rain Thursday and Friday forecasted.
Rain due again Saturday afternoon.
So soggy pitch expected again.
Wet weather players needed.

i was at the wimbledon -west ham cup game earlier this year as i have a friend who is a season ticket holder he offered me a ticket and was in london that day so fancied it. Their pitch is a million miles away from last time we played on it as chelsea have taken over the stadium in fact its probably the best in the league so i don't think rain will affect our team like it seems to do at fratton recently.

The quality of the pitch has been very poor from the first game for some reason.
