1 goal in 69 career appearance according to wiki. Not sure that's the type of midfielder KJ should be/is looking at.

See Ryan Leonard name been mentioned on twitter. Cant see sheff utd getting rid of him and even so he'd likely go to another championship club. But in my opinion thats the standard of player we should be looking to bring in.

Should go back to Ireland and get another Curtis

Let's not be hasty. Our success rate with Curtises isn't great. Tom and John were both dreadful.

Andrew Moon has just confirmed Ben Thompson is on the verge of joining Pompey....

Can't say I am feeling this one...

38 apps in League 1, no goals. He's a midfielder?

Does this mean May out on loan?

Don't know anything about him. But the first 3 games has shown we are desperately lacking in midfield control. Hopefully he can help in retain the ball and get some control.

sounds more of a ball winner than a play maker

Having a Duracell bunny like Thompson in midfield who can battle might help free up Naylor to control the game a bit more. Close has talent but he's too weak, Naylor will have to spend half the time in games bailing him out if they carry on playing together.

Millwall fans not overly impressed about letting this lad go on loan. Good attitude and engine, gets around the park and wins the ball.

Looks like Kenny not impressed with his midfield options, which is odd as he's got 6 players who can play there and he had 5 of them last year. However, it does look like a weak spot so good that he's strengthening there.

Still need more upfront, though.

FFS...another defensive midfielder [|)]

Also, we seem to be helping the development of another clubs player at the expense of our own (Close new May).

Where is the creative spark going to come from Kenny? We had the same problem last year, which sadly has not been addressed this season...yet. Although I’m not going to hold my breath.

Unfortunately neither Close nor May look good enough to be in a side hoping for promotion.

Mbesuma gets it [^]

This is actually an excellent signing. We will now see the best of Naylor.

Let us also not forget Donohue who is nearing a return and will actually get a runout in his proper position - attacking midfield - thanks to the signing of Brown.

Squad is shaping up, think things will start to click in next 3-4 games.

Plastic sheets away until then please. We're Pompey, not XXXXXXing Wolverhampton Wanderers. We back the boys win, lose or draw and we always used to give the squad at least six games to show improvement.

Funny that Primus I thought we had a similar player already at Pompey, who before he broke his leg, Pompey had there best spell when he came back in the team. It is pretty obvious KJ doesn’t rate him.

Agree with you bluebob, but we don't see Rose in training and for all we know he may still not be 100% match fit following the leg break? Jackett may not feel he has time to wait.

Rose is way better than what we've seen of any other replacement KJ has brought in thus far. Then again if you play hoofball its not a pre requisite to have a decent midfield.

More like that please, best debut I’ve seen for us for a while. The midfield suddenly looks one of our strongest areas after today. Oxford were poor though..

He was fantasic today. Just sort out the defensive roles with Naylor cos we left a huge great gap in front of the D when Oxford could have scored three in 5 minutes. Maybe Naylor sits in the middle with Thompson with a freeer role in front of him. Have to say Evans looked very good in his position today to.

I can’t remember a better debut, the lad is absolute class,

Cracking little player..do we need another striker though? Hawkins couldn't finish his dinner but are we gonna sign anyone better then Pittman or Chaplin for backup?

Happy to eat humble pie Gooders...Thompson was absolute quality today and brought the best out of Naylor. Certainly deserves man of the match after that performance, even after Lowe’s brace and worldie.

We just need a pacy striker, then we’ve got a real chance of going for promotion.

He wasn’t just a ball winner. Wasn’t afraid to take players on on the odd occasion. Best addition to the squad so far on that performance.
