Does that mean somebody could come in with an 11th hour bid of £18m and nick from under Wolves noses?

Shows the gulf between the Premier League & Div 1. Pompey couldn't scrape up £1.5M to get Mo Eisa!

Itís all about agreeing terms with the player isnít it. Some clubs you just wouldnít join like scum as you have to clean out the stables every Sunday.

I heard itís 22 million because they are paying in installments, rather than 18 million up front.

It's been reported everywhere that Traore cost Wolves £18m. I know what you're thinking - this is absolute sorcery! He had an £18m release clause, Boro were legally obliged to accept all offers of £18m, and Wolves only offered them £18m and not a penny more... the idiots! I can't believe Traore still looked favourably enough on the deal considering Wolves only offered the amount explicitly set out in the clause.

Fair play to Wolves CEO though, it must have taken a severely large set of cojones not to break ranks and offer 150% more than the release clause like Moxey did with Jed when he was in the hotseat. He's essentially just saved Wolves about £25m quid by not fully comprehending the 'wide definition' of a release clause.

It's a shame Tony Pulis no longer posts on here after Mandaric sacked him. Speaking prior to the transfer, he said: "I think everybody, especially me, wants him to be here. But we have to do what we have to do, he has a clause, I think everybody knows he has a clause in his contract and if that money is reached it's almost taken out of the club's hands. But I've got great respect for the boy and everybody here is hoping and praying he stays."

I know what you're thinking again: What. An. Idiot! If he still posted on here then Deep could have told him that he's wrong, that there could be a bidding war above the value of the release clause, he could reject any bids he didn't like, and he could have ended up with Wolves offering 150% more than the paltry £18m release clause given their history of inexplicably handing other clubs money for no reason whatsoever. But, alas, Pulis missed out on Deep's deep knowledge and wisdom and Traore is now a Wolf.

It's a funny old game.

Pete would have had a "release" when the deadline passed. Now that Juventus have pipped us to the Ronaldo signing our sceptic owners have proved their absolute lack of interest in winning the Champions league with Pompey!
