on a free when his contract expires on 1 July. Burton fans are in meltdown on Twitter...always a good sign when a player leaves a club and the fans are gutted to see him go. Link: 26 year old new midfielder

Undisclosed fee? It says on the website that we're signing him after his contract expires.

Yep Definitley a freebie Turned down new contract at Burton Saw his name come up in League One rumours a few days ago when Sunderland were after him Defensive Midfielder who can play right back and centre half as well Was actually playing at centre half for a lot of last season Only 26 so if does well will probably have a good resale value Very good signing at this level and what the doctor ordered Pompey kept this one quiet ![]() Maybe One more midfield enforcer needed? Not sure And a pacy striker?

I don't see it as bye Clark but if this does happen , if we get 3-4 million for him we have to be happy. That's just the way it works I'm afraid.

If anything, I think Jackett would buy a left footed CB to replace Clarke. Fans on Burton forum and Twitter said to see him go, think he's better than Portsmouth but respect him after all he's done for them - seems similar to what Bristol Rovers fans saying about Brown potentially coming here and what Swindon fans said about Thompson. Looks like another strong signing, and great to see Jackett doing good business under the radar while teams like Charlton and Sunderland are yet to start recruitment.

I'm sure he's a decent enough player and will strengthen our squad but please tell me he's not our 'marquee' signing!!!

Would rather sign a solid League One midfielder than a aging former Premier League player on twice the money.

I do wonder what some of you lot expect, we’re in League 1 ffs and we’re going to sign League 1 players. I’m very happy with the business done so far, a lot of the names mentioned are totally unrealistic.

This is a great signing, to get an experienced championship player who covers several positions on a free is a real coup. One question arises though ... does this mean we will cool on Walkes ? Naylor seems to cover exactly the same positions so do we need both ?

spot on ex gaffer! Fed up of hearing about this marquee signing, Jackett is assembling a very decent league 1 squad, who do you guys expect him to sign. Get with the real world!

I hope we get Walkes aswell. Need more than one type of player in the squad who can play that holding role & give you versatility in a number of positions. We need as much cover & competition as possible, as last season showed when we got hit with injuries. Assuming we get the new left back we are chasing, what is left to fill now? Assume he may still be looking for more creativity/experience from midfield & an extra striking option.....??

He might well go for both. Naylor is more of a centre back who can play midfield too (and has played right back). Whereas Walkes is a right back who can play midfield just as well (even better on the evidence with us) and has also played centre back. I would not have thought either or both signing would stop the pursuit of the much touted 'marquee signing', especially if it is someone as good as Joe Ledley (not that I'm saying I believe that particular rumour - but it would be brilliant if true).

A really good (discretely managed) signing, well done Kenny and Mark Catlin. I hope (expect) us to sign a decent striker soon, in addition to Anton Walkes and Lee Brown. Even if no-one else came in, that would be a decent Summer window. ![]()

Naylor is more of a centre back who can play midfield too (and has played right back). ???? Naylor is a central (defensive) midfielder who played at centre back for the second half of the season at Burton. JK has already stated he sees him and will play him as a defensive midfielder. Walkes will be signed as primarily a rt back.

He was a centre back at Derby. I'm sure we've signed him for his flexibility to play either, and as we have a greater need for a defensive midfielder at the moment so he may well play there, yes. But if Clarke was sold ? And who's JK ?

Deep, surely there's no reason why Walkes and Naylor couldn't be the defensive two? That'd certainly be stronger than last time around.

I repeat that I am sure he's a good signing and will add experience and solidity to the midfield but let's hope he's not the marquee signing because there are many people I know are waiting to renew season tickets depending on our transfer activity and when the club bandy around words like 'marquee' and 'big hitting' they raise expectations. I have no problem with any of the signings and trust KJ to do the business.

Talking of gingers, there was this Palaeontologist moosh on Radio 5 this morning saying that not only were most Dinosaurs covered in rudimentary feathers that were similar to hairs, but some of them were ginger. I bet it was the Iguanodons that were ginger. Pointless looking Dinosaurs already them so it would make sense that they’d be ginger. Apart from that, this Naylor sounds like he could be a promising signing.
