A bit? Saying that, I have been watching tonight (thanks to the in laws) and if I was bothered about who won it would have to be Israel - mad as a box of frogs.

Saudi Arabia will probably nick it over Israel with Driving my husbands car by Fatima Al Khalifa, but Mind My Invasion from Habibi Akmal and the Reactors from Tehran will probalby beat all.

Still no points for the plucky brit singer, what a surprise.

Call me old fashioned but when did Oz, Saudi Arabia, Israel etc suddenly become Europeans? if ever there was a programme that demonstrated the bias and bigotry of Europe this is it; cannot wait to leave that club

Nothing to do with music and everything to do with politics.

The fact that the winning entry was dedicated to the ‘trial by Twitter’ #MeToo movement is testament to that.

It is a good excuse for a party though, if only for it’s complete madness.

Ha ha ha. Where did I mention the EU?

The #MeToo crap originated amongst the pampered of Hollywood, you couldn’t get much further from the EU could you?

Eurovision also includes countries which are not only outside the EU, but outside Europe.

Geography not your strong point then Gilles? [:D]

Just because a post is addressed to 'simpleton' it doesn't automatically mean it was addressed to you. You're far from the only one.

I thought the #MeToo thing was to highlight how widespread sexual harassment and abuse was globally and to give a platform to victims of the abuse to tell their stories without fear of being ignored, as has traditionally been the case. Now it turns out the whole thing is actually just crap and trial by media after all. Who knew?

I see the Chinese were removing the gay themed dance acts and performer with tattoos were edited out - from the semi final stages onwards

"China's media watchdog in January banned tattoos and other "decadent" subculture elements from broadcasts, as it cracks down on what it sees as behaviour contrary to the ruling Communist Party's "values and morals".

Apparently - Chinese football players with tattoos were forced to wear bandages on their arms or long sleeves to cover up their inkwork during games in March[xx(]

Eurovision sums up the EU. We pay the most for it and get burger all back. Should set up a commonwealth version as part of brexit and leave Europe to pay their own bills.

I thought it might be worth mentioning that Australia was also participating this year. For those who didn't do geography at school, that's some way east of Europe.

Lots of XXXXXX on this thread.

The UK pay £485,000 to participate in the Eurovisiion.

Approximately 60% of that is attributable to the entry fee, and the rest goes on our time and materials for our act (and no our performer is not paid a penny).

We pay exactly the same as Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

So we do not pay for "most of it" - and we never have.

Spare a thought for those who go on to win. The cost to the winner next year is the full costs of hosting the next one, at an average cost of £45M based on the last 5 Eurovisions.

Eurovision does not "sum up" the EU any more than The X Factor "sums up" the UK. What an absolutely ridiculous, insular and naive comment.

There's some good stuff you can learn like how to buy a skirt from Dorothy Perkins or how to cook a fuucking chicken, or how to get your hair cut. And there's usually Gok Wan(aptly named) popping up somewhere to dress up the "fuller figured girls with big bangers". And Loose Women is usually worth tuning in to so we can listen again to how all men are useless cuunts.
