Always thought he might've been the next one through. An Alan Ball type player in that he was quite tenacious and put a lot of work in. I wonder if his height was against him, I hope he finds a club and does well.

That old chestnut again.

Remember Cotterill bombing Matt Ritchie out because he was too small to be a footballer?

I wouldn't compare cotteril to jackett, the lad is not Good enough for league 1,frees up some wages kabamba and Bedford will go aswell,Not sure on Chamberlain as his dad is involved with pompey.

If we get rid of Widderington and keep Chamberlain something is very wrong. Chamberlain makes Nicky Awford look like Messi. I've seen him play dozens of games and have yet to see any consistency from the lad, not even good enough for the Conference IMO.

I would Rosey, on this point I'd compare Mourinho, Guardiola - anyone - to Cotterill, because the notion that anyone is too small to be a footballer is complete and utter böllöcks.

Some of the best footballers in the world have been small.

The best player ever to play for Pompey was small.

If Widdrington doesn't make the grade on merit then no complaints from me, but if anyone in our club is passing judgement based on his height, then they need dismissing.

Romario - 5ft 5.

My dad watched Man u vs Barcelona live when Romario ran them ragged. Uniteds CBs still don't know where he is.

Strength can be built later on in a players career just look at Ronaldo. Technique, movement and awareness should favoured above all else at the young ages.

He's 5'7" .... the same as Danny Rose.

But no-one has said his height is the reason for his release. Far more likely to be that his opportunities behind Close & May and whoever else we sign will be limited so the best thing for the player and club is for him to move on.

Talented lad that will make it in my opinion. Jez Bedford is also being released I hear, Poole Town really missed him when he was recalled. I thought the Eisner's were all about youth development. How can that be? We have no development squad to nurture this talent that is clearly being produced.

However these lads that are being released aren't 18-19 yr olds, they're young men who should be pushing those in the 1st team. That aside Ox-Ch wouldn't break into my subbuteo team.

Official sight says Widdrington is 175 cm which I misread on the conversion from 5.7. Assuming they are right he is actually 5'8.976", so neither of us were right.

Did one of our academy/youth coach get a good position at Brighton earlier this season. If Theo has what it takes looks like insider knowledge could have played a part. That is if he ends up going there.

It says on Fifa that he's 178cm. 178cm most definitely is 5'10. No problems with simple maths there.

There's only one dinlo unable to understand that when you put 175cm into a cm-feet converter the answer is displayed as a decimal fraction of feet, not as feet plus inches. And it's no surprise whatsoever to see that that dinlo is you.

Peter Harris might win that one. The main man, the top goal-scorer for six seasons and back to back league championships.

Probably never to be matched.
