Not on the bench. Just wondering what the thoughts are on his future not been starting being used rarely in terms of minutes as a sub. Are his days numbered here.

Yes it looks like it. Feel sorry for him. In a different era he would have been a regular part of a front two (little and large) but modern era means he's struggling to find a role. Maybe he'll have to move for his own good. Should we do the unlikely and win promotion then he will definitely be surplus.

looking like a move on loan at the very least next year. I totally agree, if we would only play 2 up front we would have real asset. In previous years, we would have sent him down to Bournemouth, I wonder if Exeter might be interested in him as things stand?

Kj is the 3rd or 4th manager that now hasn't given him a chance. Maybe he's just not as good as we thought? Can't see us loaning him out now, reckon he will be sold in the summer and we would get a lot less now than we would have at the start of the season.

i fear Conor is in a hard place. 2015-16 the wonde goal agaist Wycombe and that screamer against Derby in the cup. So young no fear.

2016-17 becomes a diver gets some spectacular goals against Accy I remember but doubts creep in

2017-18 well it is what it is. Do you remember Theo Walcott, saw him on Match of the day. Like the Al Stewart song "Where are you now".

I feel Conor believed the hype too soon and came undone. KJ is no fool of a manager and sorted out Danny Rose, even Gareth Evans. If Conor can prove himself on the training ground and in the reserves it will be brilliant.

However like Kyle maybe it is time for him to move on or re-invent himself as a valuable Pompey player.

He's 21. If he is cheap on wages I'd allow him one more full season under KJ for him to assess.

He has been around a long time but rightfully so he was steadily introduced to the first team.

This year he has now come on as much as expected but that's probably the first dip in his development.

I wouldn't want to see us bin off a popular 21 year old youth product so young. Bad message to send to the other kids in the system especially when you consider how revered he is by the supporters.

But we do need to see more from him in the next 18 months. It is an important period of his career and he needs to play.

I hear he is a mild mannered lad. Maybe that's the problem? Bang the managers door and ask for a loan if not getting enough football. Possibly institutionalised after joining us at age 9 and has lost sight of becoming a footballer rather than being comfortable as a squad player at PFC.

MY GRECIAN MATE would love Connor at st James park...I would be reluctant to let him go....a bit like that young lad at the other st James park oop north...who was given away to Swindon as not being good enough

Chaplin is a complete conundrum but always worth having on the bench. He is a player who has great potential, but has still not fulfilled it, despite encouraging signs now and them. Due to his age I would definitely keep hold of him for the time being and maybe a loan move is what he needs. In football there are always players with potential that never fulfill it. A great example would be Quashie who pre-Forest looked one of the best players in the Premier League. However, at 27 when he left us, he was still a player with potential which was never fulfilled and a huge bill for lost footballs.

Connor needs game time, but in competitive league 1 games week in week out is probably too much at this stage of his career.

To get game time - and keeping him long term at Pompey (which is what most fans would want) - a loan situation would suit all parties. Maybe with H&W or the 'Shots as that would be starts in the conference where H&W (hopefully next season) will need to establish themselves. Otherwise a L2 team with game time - such as Exeter, Forest Green, where there would be pressure to perform at a level that may suit for a season (or half a season)....just thinking out loud!!![fb]

One thing is for sure, whoever has the minerals to loan him out or sell him on, the fans are going to act like he shot Bambi

I suspect fans would not be as upset now as they would have been a year ago, looking more and more like he needs to go out now or end up fading out of the game

Gone in Jan I reckon. The way this squad is shaping up, I think we might start to see Jamal playing off the striker

i suppose all the strikers will be loking at the fact we have not bought in a new one as yet.
