Lowe

How did Jamal Lowe stay on the pitch for 92 minutes?
He looked tired and uninterested after 15;and should have been subbed at half time at least. We played the whole game with 10 men tonight, battled well against a very good Blackburn side and should of got at least a draw. With a pacy left winger on the pitch who knows we could have gone on and won that game.

I've often questioned this week in week out. I'm just not sure what he offers the team but seem to find myself in the minority as everyone seems to think he's a gem.

Biggest problem was he has no left foot, and can't get it on his right quick enough to cross it. He always had to go back to Donahue for him to cross it in.

I agree with a pacy left winger but Lowe is a right winger and all his best work is done on the right. His biggest asset is his pace but that is eliminated when he needs to cut back to cross with his right. Why put a square peg in a round hole. Kennedy has been building an understanding with Donahue which was developing nicely.

But he's played right wing pretty much all season apart from the odd game or two. How many times can you remember him going at the full back and beating him with trickery/pace? The only real stand out one was the goal he scored against Fleetwood (I think) when he skinned the scummer who came on. I can't remember too many other times he's beaten a man or two and scored/set up a chance?

a decent youngster in his first season, says a lot about Kennedy that Lowe is getting picked ahead of him. If we ahd a fit left back, I would rather see Donahue pushed up to left wing anyhow!

Look at Lowe's you tube compilation from Hampton & Richmond and you'll see him playing much more on the left and hardly ever on the right. I don't see too much difference in his effectiveness on the left or the right ..same strengths, same weaknesses.

KJ has signed a left back on loan and he hasnít got his boots dirty yet.

Interesting, and funny, last night when Kennedy came on. Their full back just knew Kennedy's only "trick" was to check back and he refused to give him that option. Kennedy just didn't know what to do. Maybe a stint on the right wing might help him get past a full back and deliver a cross with his favoured right foot.

Deslandes is a left back, Donohue is a left sided midfielder with a decent cross on him. Lowe and Kennedy are right footed and should play on the right. It ainít rocket science.

Deslandes was obviously signed as cover (and to keep Ronan company). Donohue has played left back for the last 2 years of his career and got a POTY award doing so. He may have said he regards himself as a central (not left sided) midfield player (and has also said he hates playing wing back) but KJ has made it very clear he see him as a better left back and is being proved right by ever-improving performances there. Why think about moving him when it is going so well where he is ?

We've got three left wingers. Kennedy has played left wing all his career, Naismith plays elsewhere too but is primarily a left winger and Lowe made his name in non-league playing on the left side of a 4231.

Donohue on the other hand has never played left-winger in his life.

Lowe and Kennedy cannot kick a football with their left foot. We need a player on the left who can. Itís quite easy really.

Naismith is not a LW. If anything he is as we saw last season an attacking MF who plays behind a striker. @ a push he can play LM but he isn't a LW.

What a shame that Ronaldinho and Christiano Ronaldo weren't left footed - they both could really have been tremendous memorable players.

Pitman not turned up in the last 3 games? Was you not at the Doncaster game in the last ten minutes Archibald? He cover every square inch of the park closing down everything.

yes i was at doncaster and yes he saved us on that occasion but if he and the others had turned up we wouldn't have needed to be saved. Where is he pitman from the first games of the season when he couldn't stop scoring? Where is the lowe who gave defenders nightmares running at them, now he just loses the ball and makes no ground.

Bit harsh to blame Pitman and Lowe. Jackett's long ball tosh means everything gets pumped up to Pitman who has to win the ball off 3 people, wait 10 mins for someone to support him or somehow beat them all. As for Lowe, when he's not arching his head skywards hoping to find the ball, he appears to be under strict orders not use that pace of his and take on a player. Hence why we are so utterly boring to watch and create precious little.

one strength Lowe very clearly has is the ability to beat goal keepers from a tight angle on the right. Not sure how he does it, but we need to get him in there more often than we do, and he won't do that on the left wing.

Under orders to put defensive duties first Lowe spends almost the entire match in our own half covering our left back, which is a complete waste and is ruining him. IMO he should be given a free rein to pick up the ball in the opposition's half and run at defenders which with his pace and control would frighten the life out of them. If he has to play wide then it should be out on the right.

I'd like to see Walkes & Lowe together on the right, could be a bit gung ho but worth watching like the Traore & Belhadj left sided pairing were.

2 left backs on the bench yesterday, a left midfielder at left back and Lowe still on the left wing.
