Pitman and chaplin

Pair them up let them bang the goals in Chaplin needs a run of games pitman had to start

agreed, its hardly as if we look watertight with the one up front, lets go out and take on the opposition rather than respecting them!

But reverse the already tried pairing.
Instead Chaplin up front with Pitman behind

yep, that would add a bit of pace and give pitman more influence as captain too.

Chaplin is a luxury player right now. in so far as he doesnt bring much to the game we cannot afford to have him and Pitman playing the role of...its ok I will just score give me a chance.

He has to bring something else to his game to make him pickable every week.

We are not good enough to carry him and Pitman on the pitch from the start.

I know we are trying to develope young players and Chaplain playing off a big un like Hawkins might work? ish? But I cannot see KJ dropping his Captain for Chaplain.

So far as I'm concerned, a fiction has arisen that Pitman just stands around up front lazily waiting to knock in the odd goal. I see him as working hard for the team ,often back helping in defence and trying to bail out the midfield He is not a quick mover, but is quick in thought.

Not sure that fiction has arisen at all.

His work ethic is not the issue, it's his pace.

Pitman works hard wherever he plays but he lacks the pace(and the aerial ability) to play up front on his own effectively in this formation. IMO he is better in the no.10 role where his intelligence can count for more, although he does need pacy players (e.g. Lowe & Kennedy) either side of him for it to work.

Deep,I'm pleased you've mentioned Pitman's work ethic- I thought I was the only one who'd noticed. That is apart from my immediate (and very fortunate) seating neighbours in North Stand Upper.
