Game of two halves!

Great first half, really enjoyed it with novel and brave set up by Jackett. Tired in the second half and they came back into it but it could have gone either way.
McGee - great game, a couple of very good saves, one after 2 minutes which could have completely altered the game.
Lowe - what a star. He's like XXXXXX Superman, people bounce off him. Scored a great opportunist goal.
Hawkins - some good work, a bit naive at times which is not surprising.
Burgess - colossal. Who said he's off form, he's a luxury at this level.
Clarke - solid as usual, another star at this level and still so young.
Thompson - excellent game, really linked up well.
Close - not as good as in recent weeks but still did well. Got muscled off it a little at times but kept at it and made some good tackles and interceptions.
Ronan - fantastic first half. Looks a gem, tired second half till subbed.
Donohue - done really well since he's come back in. Excellent crosser of the ball.
Pitman - battled very well, not much support in the last 20 minutes or so.
Naismith - good, solid game. Looked dangerous at times and also helped out in defence.

Subs: May - didn't see much of the ball.
Kennedy - likewise but a couple of good crosses.

Scunny have been up the top for a couple of years now, so we have come a long way in a short time. Very happy with the way the season is going. PUP

Game of two halves!

I thought Naismith was a liability at times. Didn't press hard enough and jumped too soon for every high ball in the first half. I also thought Clarke had his worst half-life game for us second half.

Still, a good point, with injuries and against a very dangerous side. Second half, they were always more likely to hurt us, but we limited their chances very well, and it took a lucky bounce to undo our defence. I don't think we're on Scunthorpe's level yet, but we're not too far off.

Thought I was the only one that can see Naismith in a differnet light to others that see him as class. To often I see himedged off the ball,Not seeing and judging flight of ball. And when he has opportunities to go for it seemingly losing confidence, and can be wasteful.Admittedly does have some flashes of good play nut for me not often enough and lacks consistensy

As for the game agree a good first half but second half unfortunately resorted to long balls to Pitman who had two towering defenders on him that could out jump him and when he did win there was no support. If we do have to hoof please can we have players there for the lay offs

We really had to battle today. Very entertaining game with a patched up team.

Lowe took his goal really well. Very happy for him.

We were hanging on 2nd half at times and both teams could have won it. Naismith having the best chance of them.

Cracking debut from Ronan. Excited to see more of him. Great balance and control. Just needs to pick more consistent passes.

Burgess & Clarke were class. Loved the Cruyff turn from Burgess when Hawkins left his pass short.

Ronan was very good first half, not sure why we switched formation at half time and put him wide right and naismith left. We had no one within 20 yards of pitman for pretty much the whole second half. Ronan linked the midfield and attack very well first half.

For me though, Thompson was our man of the match easily. He was everywhere, I do feel him playing centre midfield does open him up to a lot of yellow cards as he does not hold back. Is he jacketts best signing so far? Not sure I've come away from a game he's played thinking he had played bad.

It's fcking annoying that we conceded. Might cost us a play off spot come the end of the season. Charlton are a toilet paper club. We lack power.

To be fair to Jackett, they were overrunning us u til he switched it up and put Ronan and Naismith on the wings. It meant we got a draw, although with Pitman being isolated it also meant we weren't going to threaten them.

Chave ... he made that switch at half time, when we were on top. It was making that switch that gave them the initiative and the opportunity to equalise by opening up our midfield, and drastically reduced our own effectiveness going forward at the same time. No doubt he made the change to occupy their widemen and stop them pushing on, but he should have changed back when they started storming through the middle instead.

Their wide men were occupied in the first half by Lowe and Donohue . Lowe goes to right back giving their left winger free reign to get at Lowe and Hawkins. Why change it when you are playing well?

He didn't move Lowe to right back until the substitutions in the 71st minute, which did add protection to Hawkins and to be fair we looked less like conceding again after that.

My beef is that he conceded the middle of the park to them by moving Naismith & Ronan out wider at half time, presumably to add protection against their wide men but I agree with you that Lowe and Donohue were doing OK at that in the first half, with the possible exception that Lowe was leaving Hawkins too exposed on occasions. But the more important point is that we were hurting them with our first half formation, we were very much on top, and his half-time change changed that.

We had a right back on the pitch. May on for Ronan, move Thomson to rb and Lowe push up to keep the attacking impetus. Makes sense to me.

I personally think Scunthorpe started to target our right hand side of defence as that was weaker with Hawkins/Lowe and that's where their goal came from. They also had a lot more joy down there at the start of the second half so a change of some sorts was needed for sure.

Their no.16 was excellent. He did that trick of running towards a player & dropping his shoulder & going the other way @ pace a few times. His all round game was very decent & I think we were a little na´ve in how we played him, a good old fashioned heavy challenge may have seen his influence reduced.

An interesting game. Is that the first time we have played 3-5-2 this season? Hawkins will improve there - and Clarke didn't have the best game himself. Lots of players not in familiar positions - especially Lowe.

Jackett will have learnt a lot. With hakins in the squad/team we have a lot of options. Lots of flexibility to come from this team. Expect more second half results in the future.

Cool opening finish - and great legwork from Lowe to save us from defeat near the end.
