Wonder if there's scope to develop him into a holding midfielder when he's back?

Currently, half the team have got 2 positions they can play and it looks like Kenny & Joe have been smart about having players that can cover multiple areas.

Thompson
Donahue
Evans
Hawkins
Bennett
Naismith
Lowe
Pitman

All have played in more than 1 position this season or last.

Assuming we keep hold of Clarke, Jack' s probably got more chance of starting spot in the holding 2 if he develops his game to suit that role?

Clarke has played LB and CB this season, so add him to the list.

I have often thought he’d be good there. I think he was played there when he was out on loan too. One thing is for sure, he’s a fantasic player and has a great career ahead of him if he can get past these injuries.

Richie Barker of all people played him centre mid early part of 2014, remember seeing him play there away at Southend - thought he looked v comfortable there

Possibly the best passer of a ball at the club

Give the holding role to Burgess, Jack and Matt would never lose a header

Would also allow a switch to a more attacking 4-1-4-1.

Unfortunately he doesn’t last more than a couple of games. Injury will probably always be an issue with him progressing

That was Awford who played him there against Southend

sorry, but it was Barker - see link.

That day our back 4 was N'Gala, Devera, Bradley and Painter. Whatmough in midfield.
