Team for the immediate future.

Given recent results, the result v Blackpool and the reintroduction of a couple of fan faves, what would your team be for the next few games if all fit and available.

Think I'd go for
Mcgee
Evans burgess clarke donohue
Close rose
Lowe naismith kennedy
Pitman

Couple of close calls for me in whether I'd play Evans or Thompson as I feel Thompson has been quite good so far this season.
No real stand out left back and not much between Donohoe or haunstrup so not fussed with either.
Not close's biggest fan, but he's been better the past two games, is getting forward more and hopefully his first goal may lead to a few more, so he just edged it over o'keefe.
If Bennetts finishing was better I'd probably have him in there, possibly over Lowe. Controversial that may be as everyone seems to love Lowe but just don't feel he contributes enough in games. So far this season he's only scored two league goals, they were both in the same game. Not sure he's got too many assists either. But for now, I'd possibly just shade him over Bennett.

Don't get the people not rating Close. He makes tidy passes, quick to turn and can pick out a pass or shot.

If we had him on loan from a Championship club and he put in the performances he has people would be raving about him.

So with 2 new additions do we really consider the above to be a promotion side?

Close does just enough, sometimes and never influences a game. If he wasn’t one of our own he would have been dinged out months ago. Not good enough .

Deep, I was commenting on Save's team where there are 2 X's, presumably for 2 new additions.

For me I'd say
Mcgee
Thompson (new centre back) Clarke (new left back although I don't mind donohue)
Rose and a new midfielder with experience
Lowe (new experienced playmaker) curtis
Pitman

Don't think we need a huge change to the starting line up from last season but we need a bit more strength in depth. Especially in the striker area should pitman get any injuries again. I'd also be happy to see whatmough given a decent run alongside Clarke if he doesn't go.

So new left back, centre mid, attacking midfielder and curtis as starters. Probably alongside new starting centre back. Then a few new additions to cover positions.

SH: I think with two good signings, plus more strength in depth, we're a play-off team. Obviously, any further strengthening would push us higher up the league, but I'm expecting play-offs this year, and that team should do it.

I reckon at least 4 more signings (unless we lose Clarke):

Keeper
at least 1 x full back
at least 1 x central midfielder
striker

Couldn't agree more on Close , if he was on loan for a Prem/Championship club we would be saying what a talent...
I think...

Mcgee
Donahoe
Clarke
Whatmough
Thompson
Rose
Close
Curtis
Dennis
Lowe
Pitman

I am finding it hard to accommodate Evans, I liked Donahoe towards the end of the season but that looks our weakest position. I would also like to see Walkes back to give a bit of depth.

Definetely need to sort out a new CB.

No way are we going to hang on to Clarke and Jack's never going to play a full season.

Need another goalkeeper to push McGee.

Donahue and Brandon fine for me for LB.

We need to sign an enforcer in the middle of the park, someone with a pair of XXXXXX to set the tone for matches.

And we need to de-risk Pitman with another goalscorer. Father time waits for no one. Let's show that we've learned something following signings like Connolly and Ageymang.

Sacrificial lambs this season:

Chaplin - he has had enough chances but isn't breaking through. Pitman does the business and Hawkins offers us something different. Chaplin offers us warm ups on the touchline.

Lowe - if we get a silly offer. The boy is mustard so probably going to happen, but sounds to me like we've already signed his replacement.

Of all our players, I think Lowe is the one we should keep hold of at all costs. He offers unpredictability that is hard to replace, and he knows how to service Pitman.
