Anyone who believes in them has a feeble mind, used to play dungeons and dragons or is mentally deranged. Seriously, they need to watch more BBC and ITV news and read our national newspapers. Conspiracy theories are really really stupid....

The trouble with the conspiracy theory genre is that it has a tendency to go all Game of Thrones; all the NWO stuff is just a bit silly. Would be better to try and keep it more modest.

Agree GoT, I am a recovering conspiracy theorist, and no longer believe that the world is ran by psycopathic control freaks who have implanted their minions into the media, political systems of most countries and control most industries.

I realised that I was suffering from this illness when I saw kim kardashian playing with 2 adorable little kittens, and realised that there was more to life than conflicting opinions.

St David of Cameron is the most powerful man in Britain and we elected him. The queen is only a traditional figurehead who works hard - even her poor grandson has to work as a medical technician to keep his head above water.

People who disagree with this should be shunned.

The trouble with the term conspiracy theory is that it's easy to lump the 'Elvis is alive and living on Mars rogering my hamster' loons with the evidence based analysts who examine something like 9/11 empirically and come up with serious questions that haven't been answered.
Anyone who doesn't question that things aren't always what we are told they are is frankly naive, but that questioning has to be fact based and rigorous.
Enjoy your fun chortling at so- called conspiracy theorists. I'd rather look at and question the evidence.

Gulf - you are of course aware that your tag refers to an alleged attack by North Vietnamese patrol craft on an American warship in the South China Sea in 1964?
President Johnson used it as a pretext to get Congressional authorisation for unlimited warfare in Vietnam.
Subsequent enquiries revealed that there was no attack.

Norse- there are two 'conspiracy theories' about 9/11. One is that 18 Saudi playboys and an old geezer in a cave were able to circumvent the air defences of the Nation that spends on defence more than the rest of the world put together.
The other is that elements of the US government either facilitated an existing plot or created one of their own knowing that the aftermath would scare western populations & allow them to wage war in the Middle
East and Eurasia to gain dominance over dwindling oil supplies.
I know which one I go for - if it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck its probably a duck

Lot's of theories re 9/11. End of the day a bunch of terrorist scumbags killed thousands. I have viewed the various 'documentaries' on the theories and it all seems to come down to people trying to make the images fit their theories. Just my view - I don't know for sure.

PiF - go to the evidence if you're not sure. There's a lot out there. Scumbags yes, but which scumbags? Quite important that we all know, but people have simply blanked 9/11 from History. They'll get really engaged by the EU referendum, which is really just a question of which set of elites rule us, but won't engage with the question of whether elements of the US State were complicit in the events preceding and following that day.

My favourite conspiracy theories (in no particular order):

Lockerbie - no Libyan involvement and in fact a deliberate cover up by many Governments to conceal the identity of the perpetrators.

JFK - no way was Oswald complicit

9/11 - already mentioned

Heysel Stadium - a deliberate attempt by the Italian government to deflect attention away from the trial of the Turk who tried to assassinate the Pope.

Shakespeare - totally impossible for an ill-educated man from the Midlands to write the entire canon.

The Titanic - it didn't sink, it's sister ship went down.

Princess Diana - she was not a posh slapper!

The Knights Templars/Masonic Order - Jesus had children etc.

The two Princes in the Tower - did not die but lived long and fulfilling lives with new identities.

I can do more!!

Were we fed a constant drip drip of terrorism angst before 9/11? No - because we were being fed a constant drip drip of communism angst. Then the Cold War ended and deprived the US military and defence industry of its entire reason for being. The US economy collapses without permanent conflict. Cue a new enemy, a new reason to be afraid, a new reason to spend $billions on armaments rather than on making a world where most people can live unafraid and reasonably comfortable.

Most 16th century women were not encouraged to be literate. Indeed Shakespeare's own daughter could not read or write.

Homosexuality was very prevalent in those times and men frequently shared lodgings and beds.

The Elizabethans were certainly more tolerant than you, Norse.

Bill, the Olympic story is interesting. There was definitely an incident in Southampton water with that ship, and swapping ships identities has always been common in sister ships in terms of insurance frauds.

However, a further twist to that story is that 2 chaps were persuaded to get onto that ship who were to vote against the setting up of a federal reserve.

Closes stuff down a bit add1son if you do that. With 9/11 there are two equally valid lines - one is that elements within the US Government let it happen on purpose, the other is they made it happen on purpose. Both shade into each other. Things are rarely binary.

JFK - Oswald was the shooter but a secret service man discharged his pistol by accident ( after a night on the sauce) leaping on the back of the limo after the first shot. It's that servicemans bullet that takes half his head off and they've been covering up the ricket ever since. How Oswald was allowed to come and go to Russia during the height of the Cold War however......

Shakespeare's plays- he wasn't as uneducated as reported but likely his works were written by several people sometimes in par tnership with him including Christopher Marlowe who was stabbed to death in a pub brawl in deptford. Marlowe was thought to be a government spy but that's another conspiracy theory.

Rudolf Hess - fled to Britain before Martin boorman organised his arrest and trial for treason. Adolf thought his trip to Scotland was just that anyway.

Some or all of this may be boll ix except the JFK bit.

If he did die it was on direct orders from the Star Chamber - a political assassination.

A few football conspiracies which turned out to have substance

Pompey were top or near top of the old div 4 league when leading scorer Colin Garwood was mysteriously sold. The rumour was that he was shafting a team mates missus. True

Same story with Cantona leaving Leeds. the team mates missus turned out to be quite famous.

Same story allegedly - not proven yet - that Dalglish left the Liverpool hotseat after an affair with an England International's wife.

Trump is an adherent of globalisation and friend of bill Clinton. He is bringing the republicans from the inside.

Consider this - to win the election he has to win key states where a significant number of voters are black or Hispanic. Fair to say yes lost the women's vote. Even republicans who dislike Clinton won't vote to keep her out of the oval office.

An Donald isn't a billionaire owes money left right and Centre. He lends borrowed money and charges premium interest rates.

Bill, Just seen your earlier post. Spot on about the Lockerbie bomb. The airlines knew for years that the Iranians wanted to get back at the US for downing at least one of their planes that was travelling to Mecca during the Iran/Iran war. The Iranians paid Hezbollah to do it, and the Americans planted fake gear at the site - and went on a mission to exploit more deals from the Libyan leadership.

What is your angle on Heysel stadium?

Donkey's years ago I met a bloke called Jack Leslau who claimed he had broken the "code" of a series of Holbein paintings which proved that the two princes in the Tower of London did not die (you can look this up).

At that time Heysel was really big in the news and he claimed that the event was orchestrated by the Italian authorities to deflect attention away from an appeal by the Pope's attempted assassin, Mehmet Ali Ağca.

The assassination attempt is surrounded in mystery anyway (the Stasi, KGB and Bulgarian secret service have all been implicated) but at the time of Heysel, Ağca had a meltdown in court and they wanted the world to focus on something else in case he said too much.

There is some evidence to suggest that the Italians deliberately orchestrated the entire thing.

Me? I love conspiracies!!
