Burnley will be in the Premier League next season after they defeated Sheffield United 1-0 at Wembley in the Championship play-off final.

Former Bournemouth midfielder Wade Elliott grabbed the only goal of the game after 13 minutes, completign a fairytale season the the Lancashire club.

Burnley have beaten most of London's finest, including Chelsea and Arsenal, this season in a run to the Carling Cup semi-final.

Manager Owen Coyle is regarded as one of the up and coming managerial talents and he will now have the chance to show what he can do on the biggest stage of all.

The bookies will already have Burnley installed as one of the favourites for relegation next season, but as last season's play-off winners Hull have shown, it is possible for a club with little or no recent experience of the top flight to stay up.

Burnley last graced the top flight in 1976 and the club were Champions of England in 1960.

Pompey have fond memories of their last encounter with Burnley, having won 1-0 at Turf Moor two seasons ago in the Carling Cup, David Nugent grabbing the winner.

Our last league meeting at Fratton Park saw Pompey clinch promotion to the Premier League in April 2003 thanks to Svet Todorov's goal.
