Peter Crouch has regained his place in the England squad as Pompey have four players called up for the national side for the first time in their history.

After being surprisingly left out for the World Cup qualifiers in Andorra and Croatia, Crouch has responded with four goals in a week.

The latest helped Pompey to a 2-1 victory over Stoke on Sunday.

England boss Fabio Capello will no doubt have been impressed by the variety of Crouch's goals - towering headers, superb technique and poacher's instincts - not to mention his blooming partnership with Jermain Defoe.

The partnership has scored eleven of Pompey's 13 goals this season and the England boss will be sorely tempted to unleash that club undertanding on the international scene.

Glen Johnson and David James complete a record-breaking Pompey quartet in the squad for the ganes against Kazakstan and Belorussia next week.
