Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah has hinted he is still in negotiations with some Premier League clubs, including Pompey.

And he rejected suggestions his high wage demands are threatening moves, as Pompey suggested a couple of weeks agao.

A free agent after walking out on Fenerbahce following a dispute over treatment of an injury, Appiah also said he hopes to be back in action soon.

"We are still talking to the clubs involved, but the reports that I have high financial demands are not true at all," Appiah said.

"The deals from all the clubs are reasonable, but the most important thing is that I must consider many factors before I make my choice.

"I have been through a lot over the past one year so when I make a decision, I must make sure it is the right decision and that takes time."

"I shouldn't be in a rush to sign deals. I must look at the offers with a critical eye because when I sign for a club I want to stay there for long and build a relationship with the club," he continued.

"Money is not everything. Happiness is important for me. I also want to return to action soon."

With Pompey short of cover in central midfield, floowing the departures of Sulley Muntari and Pedro Mendes, perhaps a deal may yet be resurrected, should the hurdle of Guimaraes be safely negotiated?
