Pompey have been handed the toughest start imaginable to their new Premier League campaign.

They will visit Chelsea on the opening weekend, followed by a visit to Fratton by champions Manchester United.
It means two games against Sir Alex Ferguson's men in a fortnight, with the Community Shield at Wembley on August 10, a week before the league kicks in.
Keeper David James told BBC Radio Solent: 'It should be good and we'll be playing with confidence after winning the FA Cup. The second fixture against Manchester United will be the third time in a month that we'll have played them.'

Last season Pompey played Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool within the first six games.

Things inevitably get easier for the Blues after those two openers, with visits to Manchester City and Everton and home games with Spurs and Middlesborugh before the end of September.

The first game with a newly-promoted side comes on October 4 when Stoke come to town.
There are just two games at Christmas - at home to West Ham on Boxing Day and away to Arsenal two days later.

Clashes with Chelsea and Manchester United are also next to one another in the second half of the season - it's away at Old Trafford on February 28 and home to Chelsea three nights later.

Pompey have a nice-looking end to the season - at home to Sunderland and away to Wigan, where hopefully there will be no need for a repeat of the 2006 Great Escape party.
