Jervis made three appearances on loan at Pompey last season and is now a free agent after leaving Turkish club Elazigspor, Former England full-back Shorey was released by Bristol City last week.

Barker told The News: 'They are just training as Nicky recently left Bristol City and Jake does not have a club and has been with us before. I thought I would have a look at them and will have a conversation with them in the next 24 hours about how long they will train with us.

'If there is the opportunity to look at people then we will do that, and if they come in and do well, then that is great.'

Meanwhile, Fulham youngster Sean Kavanagh is attracting interest from Pompey, according to Talksport. The Republic of Ireland Under-19 left-back is injured but there is talk Pompey will look to sign him on loan when he returns to fitness.
