There's a way to go - but the people heading attempts to 'Pack the Park' are not about to give up on the idea.

Tickets have been selling faster than a normal home game for Saturday's meeting with Hull City - but not fast enough.

There are plenty left, so if you know someone who is thinking about going but has yet to commit, put the pressure on - and get the message across that now is the time to keep Pompey afloat and show the strength of the fan base ... before it's too late.

The Pompey Supporters Trust, with support from politicians, businesses, The News and other fans' groups, want fans to fill the ground to capacity for the next two home games and beyond - starting with Saturday's Hull game.

More than 4,100 people have pledged their backing to the Pompey 12th Man campaign which aims to safeguard the club’s future by calling for more supporter involvement. But more must get on board.

Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt has thanked fans for supporting the scheme and Tom Dearie, vice chairman of the Supporters’ Trust, said the campaign was going well.

He told The News: ‘We have spoken to Penny Mordaunt, who will try to raise the profile of the campaign through contacts she has in the local business community.’

He said campaign members were seeking volunteers to help hold clipboards and take down fans’ details at Saturday’s fixture. The information will be put into the 12th Man’s database.

Pompey have introduced ticket offers for Saturday’s game. A family of four – two adults and two children – can buy a ticket for £44, and season ticket holders can take a junior for £2. To volunteer on Saturday, visit pompeys12thman.co.uk and click Contact Us.
