Pompey's trip to Hull is another tough - but no tougher than last week's visit to West Ham, says Steve Cotterill.

The Fratton boss says his team acquitted themselves well at Upton Park and can gain reward from the KC Stadium if they do so again this weekend.

He also said the spirit in the camp is as strong now as it was when the Blues went to Hull last year and played despite fearing the club could go bust at any minute.

Cotterill told the Pompey website: .Nigel Pearson’s done a good job at Hull and wherever you go in this league you’ll have a tough game. There are no easy games – we know that – but it won’t be any tougher than it was at West Ham last week and we equipped ourselves well there.

'Unfortunately we didn’t get the result on the day, but who’s to say we won’t get the result this week?”

He recalls only too well last year's trip to Hull, which came against a backdrop of claims the club could be put into liquidation because of hold-ups in the deal to take it out of adminstration. Cotterill said there was unity in the dressing room - and now.

'The unity’s been here all the time. We’ve had a few different sets of players here but we’ve always been united. The spirit then wasn’t any stronger than it is now, so we’re definitely pleased with that,' he said.

'There were some tough times in the last year but we’re still here. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get us into this shape and the work’s still ongoing, but the club’s a lot stronger now.'

Hull have won their last two, keeping clean sheets in both.
