Jason Pearce feels it's time for Pompey to start turning draws into wins - especially at Fratton Park.

He was a key man as the Blues took a point from Cardiff on Saturday - their third draw in five league games played so far.

The central defender signed from Bournemouth is content with the way Pompey have started the season, but says the team will be keen to turn one-point hauls into three-point hauls once they return from a fortnight's break.

Pearce told the Pompey website: 'Cardiff came down and played some good football, but I think we had the opportunities to win the game. It’s another draw but we’re disappointed because we want to win our home games.

'We’re slowly getting there and the lads are gelling, so hopefully we’ll soon start getting some wins. The more games we play together the better we’ll become. It was a massive test for me against Kenny Miller and Rob Earnshaw – probably the biggest one I’ve had in my career so far. It was a good challenge and I think I coped okay.

'The more games I play against players like those then the better I’ll become. It’s still early days in the season and we’re looking forward to our next game after the international break.'

Pompey now head to Real Betis for a rearranged friendly this Wednesday and for Pearce that could offer an opportunity for a longer look at the latest two forward signings: Erik Huseklepp and Marko Futacs.

He said: 'Erik looks sharp and exciting. I think he’ll prove to be a good signing and will hopefully score some goals for us. I couldn’t believe when I asked how old Marko was and he said he was 21 – he’s a beast! But hopefully he’ll also bring something to the team.'
