David Nugent warmed up for Burnley’s visit to Fratton Park by admittingL We need to start winning our home games.

The Blues have gone nearly three months without a home victory and he will be out to gun down the team he played for on loan last season to make up for what he felt was two points dropped in the 2-2 draw with Leeds on Saturday..

Nugent told the Pompey website: ‘We should be winning our home games but we’re one point better off than we were before the game. We got a point here and we deserved our point up there earlier in the season. It shows there’s not much between us and the teams at the top of the table.’

Nugent thought Pompey should have wrapped up the Leeds game in the first half and added: ’We deserved to be ahead at the break but they came out stronger in the second half. I was disappointed with a chance I had from a ball over the top from Liam Lawrence. I tried to stab it in but it came off the wrong side of my foot.

‘If that had gone in it would have been 2-0 and we would have had a great chance of winning the game. ‘We didn’t come out all guns blazing in the second half like we did in the first half. It was a case of taking one step back when we should have taken two steps forward.

‘We knew they would have been chasing shadows against Arsenal in the FA Cup during the week and would be tired. But I think their manager must have given them a rollicking in the changing room and they’ve come out for the second half and played like they’ve done all season.’
