Pompey are confident the Football League will effectively allow them to come out of administration.

Administrator Andrew Andronikous says he cannot see why the league’s board won’t grant the Blues their league ‘share’ and approve Balram Chainrai’s plans to resume control at Fratton. The league can also ease Pompey’s transfer restrictions.

Following the success of securing the CVA, Andronikou told The News he was confident of winning this latest battle.

He said: 'The sooner we leave the better for all concerned. We want a fresh start for this football club and are very close to moving things on. Tomorrow (Thursday) is an important date and I am hoping we can receive the golden share which will allow us to continue progressing.

'At the moment, the Football League are waiting for our cash-flow guarantees, then they will sit down and consider our situation. Mind you, this is a scheduled meeting for other football matters, so if it is not settled tomorrow I would have thought it will be sorted the following Thursday.

'As we all know, nothing to do with Portsmouth is ever straightforward. I am confident, though, everything is in place and we are now just awaiting the go-ahead. There is every reason for supporters to feel encouraged. We are on the verge of a fresh start for everyone.'.

It is expected that the Football League will still monitor the club’s financial situation to make sure the club continues to stay within its budgets. That will involve the introduction of a managed embargo, with football chiefs analysing each south-coast arrival case-by-case, says The News.

Pompey will still need to seek Football League permission for future deals.

A Football League spokesman said: 'Any club that exits administration will be subject to increased financial reporting requirements in the period that follows. These measures are intended to help the club in question live within its means.’
