Suspicion is growing that Rob Lloyd and his backers may pull out of their bid to buy Pompey after administrators said they would pay creditors 20p in the pound.

Lloyd, who has still yet to identify the individual or group he is fronting the bid for, says ‘the figures are tight’ and the purchase of the club would not be easy. Fans have reacted by casting major doubt on whether the group will see the bid through.

Creditors at their meeting on Thursday were told they could expect a fifth of their debts to be returned.

They also learned that Lloyd and investor(s) had not made a formal bid, but there were other parties interested in the club’s sale.

But Lloyd told the Guardian: ‘We will have meetings in London on Monday and Tuesday, and by Wednesday we should be able to see what level our bid is at and whether we can then make a formal offer.

‘The figures are tight based on this 20p in the pound job. But we are still in the frame and working on our executive summary. But this is difficult for everyone involved. It is not an easy acquisition.’

Fans on this website’s messageboard say they will be surprised if Lloyd’s bid is forthcoming.

Administrator Andrew Andronikou will issue the CVA proposal, designed to help Pompey out of administration and see them avoid a 2010-11 points penalty, by May 21.
