Upbeat David James reckons he has a great chance of playing at Wembley – and says Pompey have a great chance of overcoming Spurs to reach their second FA Cup final in three years.

James went off late in the 2-0 defeat at White Hart feeling the effects of his recent calf injury, but he expects to be fit for April 11 – and expects the Blues to fare better than they did this weekend.

James said: ‘My calf was not feeling right, but hopefully it is not too bad. Obviously me going off meant we were down to 10 men, but I did not want it to get worse.

‘It is better to take a precaution than play on and then have three weeks out. Hopefully it was just a niggle, but we will look at it on Monday.

‘I am just thinking about Blackburn on Saturday and then the FA Cup semi-final after that.’

James and Aaron Mokoena both say the semi-final will be anything but a stroll for Spurs, whose Pompey old boys Peter Crouch and Niko Kranjcar did the damage to leave their former side on the verge of relegation.

James said: ‘The season is far from over. The FA Cup is still there and whatever side we put out at Wembley has got a chance of winning.’

Mokoena said of the semi: ‘It is a completely new game. We want to forget about this game as soon as possible and move on to the next one.

‘We just have to keep going until the end of the season - not just because of the semi-final, but also because we owe it to the fans.’
