Pompey have reappointed Avram Grant as Director of Football as the revamping of the club gets underway after the takever by Al Al-Faraj.

The former Chelsea boss was at Fratton Park in a similar role in 2006-07 under Harry Redknapp, before the Israeli moved to Stamford Bridge.

Chief executive Peter Storrie insisted though that the appointment wasn't a threat to the present boss: “Paul Hart remains as manager and Avram Grant will work alongside him and give him the benefit of his experience,' said Chief Executive Peter Storrie on the official site.

"Avram’s role is to help and advise Paul. Team selection matters will remain with the manager.

“We now have two very experienced people working together which will only benefit the club. Paul does not have an assistant but now has a director of football alongside him.

“The manager, director of football, chief executive officer and chief scout will all work together on the buying and selling of players.” Article continues here

Grant's appointment has been welcome by Pompey goalkeeper David James, who recalled the impact of the 54-year-old in his last spell.

James, currently on England international duty, described Grant as a 'very wise' man. His full interview can be seen and heard here.
