Storrie attempts to broker face-saving deal

So it seems a diplomatic solution to Pompey's current imbroglio may be on the horizon.

Peter Storrie, Sulaiman Al Fahim, Sacha Gaydamak and other investors, including the Al Faraj brothers, are locked in negotiations to try to find a way to end the civil war which has ripped the club apart since the summer.

With Al Fahim and Storrie apparently at loggerheads as the club finally ran out of cash this week, a deal is being brokered whereby Al Fahim will retain his position of Chairman, but he will step aside to allow other investors to provide the finance to stabalise the club and move it forward.

The Al Faraj brothers are already belived to have provided a bridging loan to allow players and senior staff to be paid. The final arrangements to make the payments - two days late - were underway on Friday afternoon.

The key to the deal coming off however is erstwhile owner Gaydamak junior. Article continues here


It appears that if Al Fahim sells on the club he bought from Gaydamak at the end of August, a number of payment of loan clauses are triggered, which would otherwise be deferred until 2012.

It is believed all parties are working on the deal over the weekend and, if agreement is reached, an announcement could be made as early as Monday.

Fans will be relieved to hear that talks are underway to try to find a diplomatic solution to the situation, but with so many deadlines - official or unofficial - having come and gone since July they will be forgiven for not holding their breath.

They will, however, have their fingers tightly crossed... deals
