Sulaiman Al Fahim has insisted his takeover is not on the point of collapse and claims his attendance at Fratton Park on Saturday demonstrated his commitment to the club.

Al Fahim arrived shortly after the kick off on Saturday and spent the match sat next to Chief Executive Peter Storrie during the game against Fulham.

The Mirror is claiming an 'exclusive' that the takeover deal is about to collapse, a story refuted by Al Fahim's spokesman Ivo Ilic Gabara.

'The takeover of Portsmouth FC is on track.  Any rumour suggesting the contrary is completely unfounded.  Mr Sulaiman Al Fahim attended yesterday's [Saturday] match precisely to show his commitment to the takeover, the Club and its supporters,' he told pompey-fans.com, the sister site of truebluearmy.com.

'As for the game itself, the new Chairman of the Board of Portsmouth FC has very much enjoyed both the match and the atmosphere at Fratton Park and looks forward to attending most of the Club's matches in the future.' Article continues here

The Mirror article suggested that chants against Al Fahim caused him to leave early, although fans attending the game failed to hear anything of the sort.

Similarly it claimed that his attendance was 'unannounced', despite the fact Al Fahim had made it clear in the week running up to the match he'd be there.

The Mirror also hints that Chief Executive Peter Storrie has had other backers approach him in recent days - a suggestion backed up by an Inside Track column on pompey-fans.com five days ago [click here to read it]

Al Fahim's bid 'may' be formally withdrawn in the next couple of days, according to the newspaper.
