Pompey striker Nwankwo Kanu has fired a warnign to Premiership rivals by stating Portsmouth still have the players good enough to stay in the Premiership- including himself.

The Nigerian's future had been in doubt after a delay in signing another year's extension but speaking to the press Kanu made it clear he is staying at Fratton Park.

He told the Daily Mirror: "All I know is that we are not going to go into relegation as we still have the kind of players that can keep us afloat.

"Most times you do not need the big names to perform, all you need is a good manager that knows how to manage what he has," Kanu explained.

He went on: "Some players may have gone, but at least they have me and I am still good enough to help the team stay on course."
