Pompey fans are going to have to be patient, but the 'Doc' Sulaiman Al Fahim will deliver for the club in the long term.

That's the view of a source close to Al Fahim, based in the United Arab Emirates.

However, it would appear that hopes of a spending spree, like was seen last summer at Manchester City, is out of the question for the time being.

'He never said he was going to be a mega-spender. I think Pompey fans will need to be realistic. There is no $1billion kitty like Man City,' said journalist Anil Bhoyrul, who writes for arabianbusiness.com, which has broken a number of stories on the takeover.

However, with a number of players having left or apparently leaving, Al Fahim still hopes to have a 'stronger' squad for next season.

'Year one will be stabilizing the club, putting in place infrastructure and stadium plans, putting his own management team together and building a stronger squad.

'He told me he’s sending scouts to Brazil and Argentina to look for young talent to bring over, and plans to invest heavily in the academy.

'All this will take time – this is a $100million business he is buying – and his plans are about growing it steadily over the next decade.'

According to arabianbusiness.com Al Fahim's takeover will be completed by next Friday.
