Argyle Chairman Paul Stapleton has launched an astonishing attack on his former manager Ian Holloway ahead of Saturday’s clash at Leicester.

Holloway walked out on Argyle in November to join the Foxes, but Stapleton claims a number of top players could have still been at Argyle, were it not for Holloway’s attitude.

According to Stapleton in a statement on the official site:

* Holloway said that he was HAPPY for midfielder Akos Buszaky to leave for QPR in October saying he was not liked in the dressing room

* Holloway REFUSED to renegotiate striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s contract at the club, claiming he wasn’t fit enough

* Holloway told midfielder David Norris he could LEAVE the club in January

The revelations have certainly stoked the fires ahead of the clash at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.

And Leicester Chairman Milan Mandaric – never one to shy away from publicity – has hit back at his counterpart with a statement on his club’s official website: ‘I am saddened and disappointed by Paul Stapleton's comments and the timing of them just three days before our crucial game against Plymouth at the Walkers Stadium.

'One thing their Chairman fails to mention is the amount of quality players Ollie brought to Home Park and the team he built under difficult circumstances and financial constraints.

‘Surely Ollie deserves some recognition and praise for his efforts. But Plymouth's loss is Leicester City’s gain.

‘I am delighted Ollie is with us and the important thing is that we put these mind games to one side and concentrate on picking up three points on Saturday with the help of our players and supporters.

‘In the short couple of meetings I've had with Paul, he has always conducted himself in a professional manner but after reading these statements, all I can say is that it's not all about their Chairman crying all the way to the bank.’

The atmosphere in the boardroom could be quite frosty on Saturday evening…
