Billingham Day

I decided to snap a load of photos around Billingham last week. They are mainly in the old centre, Billingham Green still clustered around the ancient anglo-saxon church of St Cuthberts. The church tower still stands at the top of a bank looking down over the marshy bottom-lands. Next to the church is a row of 18th century alms houses and the vicarage built with hand made bricks and dating from 1800.

The old signpost was removed in the Second World War and returned afterwards.

That picture of the old offices reminds me of the pictures of beirut in the 70s and lima in peru.
