Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Charlotte Church, Vintage Trouble, Dodgy, Hue & Cry

It’s high fives all round at ARC in August as Ten Feet Tall in association with ARC present five musical big hitters. Playing the Stockton venue are Motown legends Martha Reeves & The Vandellas; one of the UK’s biggest stars Charlotte Church; LA based garage soul sensation Vintage Trouble; perennial festival favourites Dodgy and Scottish brothers Hue & Cry.

It was precisely fifty years ago that a young Martha Lavaille joined the fledgling Motown label in Detroit where she would look after Little Stevie Wonder during office hours. Within a year, she had caught the eye and ear of label boss Berry Gordy and recorded her debut album with a new band and new name - Martha and the Vandellas - and was on the way to becoming one of Motown's most successful and enduring recording outfits.

Responsible for an enviable string of hits: Nowhere to Run, My Baby Loves Me, I'm Ready for Love, Jimmy Mack, and, of course, the Motown anthem, Dancing in the Street. Martha Reeves celebrates her 70th birthday this year, yet with the same distinctive voice, presence, wit and energy, she continues to thrill audiences around the world. See her at ARC on Thursday 30 August. Tickets are £25.00.

On Saturday 11 August, you can be one of the first to witness the exiting reincarnation of former child star Charlotte Church. One of the world's most famous sopranos, she has performed for the Pope, President Clinton, the Queen – as well as singing alongside Pavarotti.

Charlotte hits ARC with a bold new sound. Big drums, big guitars, and that exquisite voice and performance that sold over 10 million records. Leave your preconceptions at the door..... Tickets are just £13.50.

It was just over a year ago when a suited and booted Vintage Trouble appeared on Later with Jools Holland. Their performance was so incendiary that overnight they shot from obscurity to being the 6th most popular trend on Twitter worldwide the very next day. Not only that but their US-only self-released album (recorded in three days!) took the UK download charts by storm, making No 6 with Amazon and No 13 with itunes.

It was the start of a truly meteoric rise for this soul-fuelled garage rock n roll outfit. and the band were soon picked by the legendary manager Doc Mcghee (KISS, Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses), and booked for clubs and festivals across the globe.

Expect the roof to be blown off ARC on Wednesday August 1. Tickets are £13.00.
